Anyone going?

I believe you will have to be Tested to attend.

This will be 2nd year attending. This event is absolutely nuts!...in a good way.

Best description is.... Burning Man for the gear head. 50,000 plus people on the dry lake bed celebrating all things off-road.

But yes...since the even is in California. This year they are require 100% of attendees to be tested negative before allowed to enter the lake bed. KOH is requiring a negative test within 3 days. Theres also going to be on-site rapid testing.

This will be my 10th year, it will be well worth the inconvenience of getting a covid test!

We have a whole contingent going from Bishop, Ca. We are all signed up as volunteers. Unless Ca. Is in a stage 2-3 lockdown , it will be business as usual. You can get all COVID related info from the ultra 4 or KOH website. With the release of the Vaccine, things are going to change rapidly. Updates will be posted as they become available. See y’all there👍🏻👍🏻😎😎

Did you guys sign up to Volunteer as a group? If so, did you request a specific assignment?

Yes we did. There is a list and we chose the Saturday evening king of the motos and the UTV race. Once your there and go to the meetings they will let you know where they need people. Nothing is set in stone. We actually want to do the T1 race, but it wasn’t on the list.

Actually, you can request assignments. I was a part of Backdoor Recovery last year. The "Team Lead" has been doing it for years with my son and a bunch of his buddies. He asked if I could take the reigns this year, as his son (and my son as co-dawg) are racing again this year.
I've been trying to get in touch with Simon, but we haven't hooked up yet.

Yeh our group lead has done it before also. I have been going for years and decided to change it up and volunteer this year. Looking forward to getting away and unwinding. Do you have a LC that you take out there? Maybe we can meet at one of the meetings we will have to attend. Are you doing recovery this year?

Bogus likes to recover the backdoor abuse.........................
5 years of running rescue, fire and medical took the soul out of me, I make the T1 day for my desert buddies and high tail it out of town.

I won't be taking my 55 out there, it's sitting in pieces right now. Our group will (hopefully) be doing Backdoor. I'm working on getting winch rigs lined up. Need 2 for each day

THE UTV race last year was off the hook. Had a blast. Keeping Blyer from ruining his day was a highlight, as well

From Dave Cole yesterday:

Cliff notes of our Covid Protocol

Everyone 18 or over must satisfy the Covid Protocol one way or another.

Minors are exempt

We are working with MedNext for onsite medical (test) staffing. They are currently the company responsible for all the testing for the state of Michigan including prisons and LEOs.

We are engaging with a seperate lab that will provide home testing solutions. They have a nationally certified CLIA lab.

Between the two companies it removes Hammerking from any Hippa Compliance issues. All we will know is your good to go when we scan your ticket at the gate.

Options:

1) Doctors note stating you have been diagnosed with Covid and have been asymptomatic for 14 days. You will submit the letter to a MedNext Portal and processed accordingly.

Zero cost

2) Provide documentation of being Vaccinated

Zero cost

3) Provide test results from a 3rd testing facility (CVS, family doctor, work, etc) that shows negative result no more than 7 days prior to arrriving.

Zero cost

4) MedNext will ship you an at home self test and schedule a TeleHealth appointment where you spend 15 minutes with a HealthCare professional on a video call that both walks you through the test and independently confirms and records results. The test must be completed 7 days in advance of arriving.

Costs $30 but is refundable through your medical insurance

5) Test onsite. When you turn off on Boone Road there will be a testing facility. Those that tested in advance will drive by. If you get tested, the results will be emailed to you before you get to the Welcome Gate and you process through like everyone else.

Cost $60 but also refundable

There is another solution:rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:

Going down with a group from Santa Cruz. Not going to be able to bring my FJ40 likely as I have to rebuild the front axle prior to taking it the several hundred miles.
