I’m trying to be precise as I set up some knuckles on my 47. I have the knuckle alignment tool and followed these directions.

When I take the measurements these are the measurements I get.

Obviously my total shims can’t equal 12.55 with 11.35 on the top.
Only thing I can think of is I’m using mini truck knuckles.
My thoughts were to place the bottom shims to the thickness indicated then adjust place about the same on the top then check preload and adjust as necessary.
What are your thoughts?

The best you can do is round up or down.

I put FJ60 knuckles on my FJ40 and once knuckle has no shims at all on the bottom because the math said to remove shims but there were none.

Mine said the same thing until I realized I had the knuckle upside down

It takes a few times to get it right. I set the preload at 15 lbs because I have 35" tires. Now when I have to move the tires to check the steering it feels right.

I put my knuckles on backwards and on the opposite sides because I did a big brake kit and did not need the lugs for the calipers since the kit came with new flanges with lugs that fit the new calipers.
