I've just completed rebuilding my passenger hub/knuckle.

A few quick questions:

1. How tight do you tighten the oil seal on the back of the knuckle (i.e. the one made of felt, rubber, and steel pieces)?

2. I didn't remeasure for the appropriate shims, but just put the original shims back - that's okay right?

3. I don't have a spring tension gauge. How important is it that I measure the preload?? What is the purpose of this??

2) If they fit the correct tolerances. If not you need the correct sized shims.

3) Its important in the sense that you bearings will be either be too tight or too loose making them wear quicker than usual.
