I live in California, would love to come and help, but...

Do yourself a favor. Get the rebuild kit from MarlinCrawler and
buy thier seals. They are awesome.

(no affiliation, just use them and like them)

up and down movement sounds like wheel bearings but doing the knuckles wont hurt any if nothing else its the peice of mind that its done.

x2 on the marlin seals they are freaking beefy. I have them in my 60 and have had zero issues thus far.

edit: Talking bout the inner axle seals by the way

all your knuckle kits will come with seals but get the marlins and compare the 2 side by side and you will know why they are so much better.

Take D'animal up on his offer to help.

I posted him a little over a month ago. I live in the SF Bay area, and
he invited me to his shop to do the rebuild there.

He is an great guy that loves the Cruiser community and is a wealth
of knowledge. Would make your life alot easier, too when you do the front axel rebuild.

Don't go cheap with the rebuild kit. Avoid the Taiwanese kits/bearings.

thanks for the offer in may but I'll have them done by then. I was kicking the steering rods and moving the wheels with one in the air and they are pretty solid. I figured that it was the wheel bearing when i felt it wobble and jacked up the one side and felt the play in there. To me there is no reason to just change the bearings without doing everything else. im sure the PO never had the knuckles rebuilt. thanks for the advise on the mairlin stuff, im thinking of ordering from them, but if the stealership has the kits i'll probably go that way just to try to make it to the run sat.

I'm currently in the middle of a disc brake upgrade on my pig. I live in manoa valley. I might be available to help out depending on when you are doing it. Right now I'm waiting on my rotors to get in from the mainland. Pm me if you like.

my girlfriends grandparents live there, off of oahu ave. you wouldnt happen to have the stock beige one right by the elementary school? If i can get the parts, I want to work on it this week in the evenings.

Nope, I've got a blue in white FJ55 that's unfortunately not being driven around. :( I might be available wednesday night if I can get all my classwork done before then. I'll check in tomorrow morning. What parts are you waiting on? I saw cruiseroutfitters had the knuckle rebuild kit on sale. Wish I'd waited to order mine now. :)

If I went to Hawaii and worked on a Cruiser, my wife would kill me.

I probably wont be able to start until wed night so that might work out. I have to take my taco to the dealer tomorrow so i'll be checking with them for the parts, if not probably order from marlin and have to wait to do it. Thanks for offering to help, i'll keep you informed.

WTF? $550

Do you need axles with that?

You could have called CJ or Dave at Marlin Crawlers and they could have fed-exed the stuff to you. You would have had it thursday so you still would have been able to wrench on friday and wheel on Saturday. Kirt may have gave you the same off though.

dealer didnt have all the parts and they wanted $550 for the parts so i ordered the kit from cruiseroutfitters cuz marlin didnt have the wheel bearings. im still gona order the seals from marling though. Thanks for all the offers and suggestions. take it easy.
