Been messing around with an intermittent CEL from my front knock sensor and finally decided to see if I could get my hands on the sensor itself.

For future reference, all the wiggling in the world didn't do this when I was messing around to see if something was loose, but a weekend camping in the woods seemed to be what it took for this baby to finally let go. I thought my issue was the sensor itself and had planned on putting some dielectric grease on it.

Is this connector something I can grab from a parts truck at the wrecking yard (with a small pigtail) and splice back together, or am I looking at trouble?

You can use this factory splice and connector: 82219-35010

:)

Awesome info... forgive my inexperience, but this part is intended to be cut and spliced into the existing wiring, correct? For my usage, I will only need the sensor end of it?

I only ask because I don't see an area for the other connecter, and am assuming it's somewhere further up the wiring loom.

Thanks

I bought the connector but it has two ends. One end is for the knock sensor and the other end gets cut off so you can splice? Where do you cut it?

Cut it wherever it suits your need for length.

It is a very easy fix that lasts. At least in my experience.

Don't mean to be dumb here. It looks like there is only one wire on the vehicle going to the sensor. When cutting the end off the aftermarket harness, it will have two wires. So do you connect the one wire from the vehicle to both of the wires on the harness?

The pig tail pictured above has a plug with one wire that is a direct fit to the 1FZ-FE knock sensor. The wire coming from that plug is then spliced to the existing wire coming from the harness.

I believe this is detailed in a thread. Give the old search bar a try or check the FAQ section.
