1991 Toyota Land Cruiser – $6,000 - After investing over $11k and countless hours of work, I’m admitting defeat on completing the interior and paint, but it’s in good mechanical shape and ready for its next owner to finish it off.
Here’s a rundown of the work I’ve done:
Brand new tires and wheels (3rd gen Tacoma wheels)
New corner markers, mirrors, and grille
Fresh diff fluid all around
Full exhaust system, catalytic converters, and O2 sensors replaced
Head gasket replaced (never overheated, gasket blew out between cylinders)
New pushrod cover, exhaust/intake manifold, and oil pan gaskets
Fresh spark plugs, rotor, and plug wires
EGR delete for a little more power
Steering overhaul - New steering gear, power steering pump, and tie rod ends
Rebuilt knuckles with new axles and seals
New front rotors and pads
New water pump, thermostat, radiator, and alternator
Fresh Air filter
All new vacuum lines
Cleaned out the sunroof lines and have it operating well
New rear hatch gasket
The bad:
Paint
General interior condition
The A/C system hasn’t been tested—I've never tried charging it, so I can’t say if it works or not. I’d assume it’ll need some TLC like the rest of the truck.
Nearly everything under the hood has been replaced or rebuilt. It runs smooth and drives, but as you can see it’s still a project in terms of paint and interior work.
Great project for someone with paint experience, or wanting to learn. That plus some interior love and this could be a great weekend cruiser or perfect rust-free shell for an LS swap.
This project also comes with a box full of parts I've pulled off over time including all the EGR stuff, as well as a Brown Dash that I had plans to paint and replace the existing dash with. See fb marketplace link or imgur link below for more photos
