Brian @GarnerFJ40 will be making the trek out from NC this year. He is going to be towing my 80 out and i'm going to tow it back from the desert to my house. Checking to see if anyone wanted to join us either by driving out when Brian does (may even hitch a ride with him) or flying out and we can pick up from Ontario airport.
Schedule is below. I'm not entirely sure when Brian will be leaving as we are planning it currently but I think he is planning on leaving no later than the 1st of February and hoping to arive on the 4th. I'm planning on bringing my starlink and working remotely from the desert (free wifi to any that want to join and also work remotely) so i'll be down there no later than the 3rd.

@SFROMAN Del you planning on being there again? I'm pretty sure Adam @custyota will be there with the rusty nail racing crew. @ROBsSON is your dad racing the 45 again?

my plan is to go in 2025. But I will know for sure by December.
Sweet it will be good to see you again, since last time we played phone tag the whole time lol

Another old ONSC member may be going Jason Traylor @addicted56 said he is currently going and i'll pick him up in Southern Oregon on my way down. It also depends on work the closer we get for him.

Tickets ordered last week still got in on the early bird price.... They gave me this personal code thing but no clue what it does maybe gives people a discount so i'll share it here.

Any update on this?

@SFROMAN I plan on leaving the Seattle area on Feb 1st. So i'll be down there late on the 2nd or 3rd depending on if I stop to see friends on the way or not.
I think @GarnerFJ40 plans on leaving NC on the same day so he should be there by the 4th.
@custyota Will most likely be there before that as he is helping the rusty nail racing guys.
Jason Traylor @addicted56 will be flying down on the 4th or 5th and i'll pick him up from the Palm Springs airport and then he will catch a ride back to OR with me when I leave to go home.

Anyone else have some PTO (I know what's that??) burning a hole in their pocket and want to join?

Here is the 2025 schedule for KOH.

I have already started prepping for KOH 2025 but I am still tentative.
I will know 100% after the first week of January.
Tentative time line for me is
Depart NC Wednesday 29JAN in the evening.
Arrive KOH Saturday 01FEB at some point
Depart KOH Sunday 09 FEB once traffic is relatively cleared out.
Arrive NC Wednesday 12FEB or sooner

Not sure what your camping plans are but here is my plan:

I will be camping just past GATE 3. Near the course and the volunteer camping area.
Within 200 meters of this location:
34.41286° N, 116.52230° W

I find this area less crowded and away from the noise of the busy main road.
It also makes it an ideal spot to watch the races from my porch in the morning while I drink my coffee before heading out.

Other areas down by the lake bed are super dusty or muddy and become a maze which makes it very difficult to find your own camp at night.
I like being relatively closer to hammer town (way easier to find parking by gate 3) and I like to avoid the main road as much as possible.

Damn.... A porch that's one thing I need to remember to pack ;)

how is the sand in that area. Brian will be dragging my 80 in on a trailer with his 200 and i'll be dragging in a unloaded trailer, with my tundra, then leave with the 80 loaded up. Both of the rigs are pretty stock, just don't want to get bogged down with the weight. Got a fairly tight leaving window to make sure Jason gets back to work on time for the Monday morning.
I do love the idea of less noise though. We camped fairly near the Saloon last time which was great to go and steal their fire warmth (since we flew in with barebones camping gear) and use the outhouses but the noise was terrible. Not from the Saloon but the side by sides going from sundown to sunup was a little much after the first night.

Oh also I should be picking up a second starlink unit for WiFi for us down there as i'm faily sure i'll need to be working off of my laptop for a bit. Have to get paid even on vacation. Just a heads up if you will need to use it also for any business dealings or to keep in contact with family.

Yep the traffic noise near the main road never ends. Then there are fireworks and music to deal with.
The dust and mud last year were also a pain to deal with.

As far as ability to tow in and tow out. No issues whatsoever. That I have seen.
You can drive a Honda civic all the way to chocolate thunder if you really wanted to.

But the location I picked is higher in elevation and away from the noise ( to a certain extent)
This area is called hammer town heights.

From my location last year I could see the rusty nail campsite but it was a pain to find them due to the maze of campers around them.

The Starlink is pretty cool. One of my neighbors let me piggy back off of his last year.
The year before that I would go into hammer town and use the wifi at the coffee shop.
But there are locations on higher elevation that you can get signal.
Hope that helps.
If you have any other questions let me know.
I’m no expert but can try to answer your questions as best as I can.

Damn.... A porch that's one thing I need to remember to pack ;)
Once I borrowed my neighbors Starlink wifi I was watching the race live from my porch and listening to the race on YouTube which made the experience a lot nicer.
The only thing better would have been if I had a tv on the porch with YouTube on while watching the race.

I’m flying the 29th to Vegas and flying out the 6th. I will be with the rusty nail guys.

You are going to miss the Ultra4 races but get to see the Desert Trucks hauling the mail! I still want to go back just to watch that. The on course viewing of the main race is limited now from what we did in the early days but still there. You can see more on the big screen in Hammertown with all the drone footage or your laptop. That is why I have stayed at home. Watching qualifiing is fun and can be done from Hammer town.

If anyone has never been, you have to do it once. Now a days you need a dust mast to walk around Hammertown all most and come back with KOH lung for a week! Most of all have fun.
