Hey folks,

I have a 99 Land Cruiser.

The truck has a factory alarm and keyless entry system, which was working fine until a couple of months ago when it randomly developed a strange problem.

Before, I would hit the unlock button once to unlock the driver side door only. One click on the unlock button would make the parking lights blink, and unlock the driver side door.

The new behavior is this - hitting the unlock button once unlocks the driver side door, but the lights are no longer blinking. Opening the driver's door now triggers the alarm to go off.

To open the truck without the alarm going off, I have to hit the unlock button twice. The second click unlocks all of the other doors/hatch in the truck, the lights blink, and the alarm disarms.

Another glitch that started happening around the same time that is less annoying but buggy at the same time - when the car is running, if any door is opened, all locks in the car momentarily lock and unlock themselves.

Any ideas what could be causing this?

Thanks in advance.

They are working, but have to press the button twice to disable the alarm. Pressing once unlocks the drivers door but doesn’t disable the alarm.

Already done, and this is affecting both key fobs, primary and spare. Pretty sure this is something inside the door, or alarm related.

Bumping one more time... completely stumped. Read a bunch of threads here but nothing matches these symptoms.

The closest I got was a thread talking about a door unlock sensor... but my dealer doesn't know what this part is. Any ideas?

Also have the same issue. One unlock and I can open the driver door but alarm goes off. 2 unlocks and no problem.

I watched the valet have a hell of a time with my car the other day.

I am still hoping someone has a fix for this so I can attempt to fix myself instead of getting reamed at the stealership...

Door control receiver would be my first guess. Dealer might be able to run diagnostics for you and pin point the trouble.

If not:

Check all wiring and connections first. Then...locate your DCR, note the part number (something like 89741-60060), find a good used one on Ebay ($50.00-$75.00) and see if that is your problem.

I just tested and it looks like if I manually unlock my passenger side door with the key, no alarm. If I unlock driver side once with key, alarm. If I unlock twice on driver side (unlocking all doors) then no alarm.

Keep in mind that unlocking once on passenger side does indeed unlock all doors. So basically unlocking the driver door does nothing in regards to the alarm.

So 2 possible fixes from what I gather. Fix it so that driver door deactivates alarm. Or prevent just driver door being unlocked on its own. I know on other cars, this can be changed through programming. I wonder if it is possible for our 100’s.

Of course your issue may be similar but different symptoms. So let me know what happens when you try the same as I did.

Yes. I do not have it back yet to confirm the fix-- but he believes that the aftermarket actuators that I installed are faulty. He ordered two Asin brand actuators, and I will let you know if this really fixed my issues, once I get it back. I am hopeful, but will not be surprised if this does not do the trick.

Your issue is the same as my issue that I have been trying to figure out for 6 months + now. The alarm goes off if I only unlock my drivers door.

Drivers Door Lock Cylinder Sensor

Your issue is not the door sensors, I tried that. If you can unlock all your doors with the key by turning it twice, the sensor works.

At least you have your keyless entry programmed. I only got a basic key when i bought my truck and cannot for the life of me get my new OEM key programmed.

If the actuators is your fix, ill try that too. Keep us updated.

EDIT: looks like you commented on my thread.

Reporting back to the forum, with details of what was done to fix my door lock/alarm issue.

Bottom Line Up Front: I had used aftermarket door lock actuators to replace the front two door actuators on my 2004 LC.
Mechanic removed them, and replaced them with AISIN actuators, part numbers-- 69110-33010 and 69120-33010.

The key thing to note with my problem, was that my passenger door lock actuator, was not working with the key fob or the toggle switch on the door-- WHEN THE CAR WAS NOT RUNNING. It would work when I used the toggle switch on the door, WITH THE CAR RUNNING. The after market actuators needed that extra 1.5 - 2 volts to work properly. Now the car locks and unlocks fine with keyfob and toggle switch, with the car not running.

Before the repair, --after driving the car, and after the doors locked automatically-- I would stop the car, and open the driver door manually, exit and close the door. When I came back, and opened the unlocked door-- the alarm would sound. This is all fixed now-- just by replacing the the front two actuators with better quality parts.

I note that my parts say DLT-063 and DLT-067-- my mechanic only replaced the actuators, not the entire door lock assembly.

I also note that similar parts are available at amazon-- an entire door lock assembly-- AISIN brand, for under $100.

My take away from all this, is that in the future, when I have an actuator going bad, I am just goind to buy the entire AISIN door lock assembly, and be done with it. I wasted so much time on this, and removed my door panels many times-- just not worth the hassle to me. Get good parts.

Thanks for updating us. Going to order the actuators this weekend and hopefully be done with this nonsense.

I've been using the key to get in my truck for like 8 months now.
