Votes, whatever? I haven't seen the long list of those willing to step up and work for the club, most who want to, already do? The way I see it, if someone wants to step up, lets exploit it? If Phil wants to, why wait for a vote, anoint yourself prez, dictator, king or whatever floats your boat? If having a "title" makes some willing to do more, by all means, lets hand them out! We can have the official Jester, Sargent at Arms, Trail Safety Officer, etc, etc! My observation, this club has grown, functioned very well without "officials", but again, that is just my opinion.

Unfortunately the club has likely grown too big, has become a group of "clicks". Too many have forgotten that it was about enjoying common/shared interest and let personalities get in the way. As is said in business; I happily do business with some that I wouldn't choose to break bread with. The toxic posts here have taken the fun out of it, I was hoping Phil would take the job, allowing me to backout, escape without drama.

OK then no more drama! I will accept and assume the responsibility of the outcome. Gracefully step away from the title/position and let’s see what course the club will take on its own with other voices being heard. In 6 months there will either be change or stay on the same course.

You have been a great CSC spokesman for TRAL . I would like to see you continue your effort into promoting TRAL to the club. I will look forward to monthly reports at the meeting as I’m sure other will also. You have a strong voice in CSC and I look forward to your support in the direction it goes.

I’m good with taking the ball and run with the June meeting. Please address this ASAP as I have a lot of work to do by June 21, 2013.

Please feel free to call me if you have any details you would like to discuss in private.

Sincerely, Phil

I feel odd replying to this, but since it's been made very public, care to share your goals, visions?

The goal is to get Kevins support for change.

The visions are (not in any particular order):

  • To bring back the continuity of member involvement this club once had.
  • Make new members feel welcome so that they are comfortable with posting their ideas.
  • Have more family oriented events, runs and fun.
  • Have monthly meeting with technical contents.
  • Provide a stronger voice for TRAL and land use.

Did we really need yet another thread on this subject, could have simply replied in this one that you started? https://forum.ih8mud.com/az-copper-state-cruisers/743473-csc-moving-forward.html

As I have said, I'm relieved to be retired from duty.

I don't see the need to discuss anything in private, the forum with everyone in the loop is better, more transparent. Plus, the last time we talked on the phone, you made it abundantly clear that my calls were not welcome.

As I have been reminded tons of times over the years, remember, it's not about you, or the voices, etc, it's about what the majority of the active membership wants.

While we all hate change, I think this makes a logical and clearly needed change/progression. Even though I haven't been the most active member as of late, I love this club. I very much respect what has been built and would HATE to see it mostly dissolve. I thought the meetings that BMAN called to order were great, kept the club feeling, while being low key and having a community feel where everyone felt they could talk. It was also a great way to welcome new members and learn a little about them. I think getting back to that style of meeting would be great and might even persuade me to make it to Sonic (So, maybe not a good idea depending on your view:p)

Phil, you have a lot to offer the club. I was disappointed that you had backed away from your offer; (I'm glad you changed your mind) This is something that is an obvious good fit for you and something that could be good for the club.

As President you need to consider how your actions, posts are received by the entire membership, and not perpetuate division or exclusion within the club. The President needs to operate at a level above the petty squabbling and put it down when you spot it. Kevin has done a great job at this and I can't thank him enough for all he has done and I'm hoping will continue to do. I was the President and founder of one of the largest youth soccer clubs in Arizona and I know how hard that job can be. A Big Thanks to you, Kevin, John and Jackson for all of your volunteer efforts!

I think we all need to step it up and come together and not apart. Let's stop the bull****, start respecting each other and behaving like the group of responsible :hillbilly: 's that we are. The club is getting bigger and must consider the needs of the entire membership for planned runs, PR activities, monthly meetings, etc. The absence of a structure has us in the position we are in today, with no defined process for elections or definition of the duties of the elected officers. We charge a membership fee to join, so there should be accountability and tracking of the funds. So, we probably need a little more structure, but not too much. The lack of an overbearing structure appeals to most members.

That said, sometimes the trail dictates the minimum equipment/huevos required to run it. We all know that and plug ourselves into the planned runs that work for us and our equipment. It works for me!

Phil, you wouldn't have started this campaign if it wasn't important to you. If you think you can improve the club by taking the lead (I think you can), then take the reigns show some leadership and let's get us past this without anymore 3rd grade level drama. You have my support if you want to move the club forward in an adult fashion, so says the subject of your earlier thread...

Glad you didn't just 'Pick up your marbles and go home'......and what a shame that would be.

We dont need to lose any of our loose marbles - each one is an important part of this club.
Also looking for moving forward with positive and open communication.

Ditto to what clarkrw3, fumann & murf have said.

Sounds awesome, will there be a time set for the next meeting?

Good luck Phil! I applaud your enthusiasm!

Kevin, you are a stud! I have enjoyed my time in the club with you at the helm. I hope you keep doing what you do! Both CSC and TRAL are better off for your efforts. Thank you for being so generous with your time and talents.

Jackson, thanks for all the data mining and collating you've done for the club. Good luck in your future endeavors.

None of your visions are any more structure than what was there when I first started making appearances.
I think new people will appreciate being 'noticed" by the club as a whole, for when they join etc. Maybe to will spark more interests, in TRALS, trails, get togethers, etc.
I love the character of this place and have met so many nice people. Lately, it's just been a little contentious. Hopefully that can just fade away ....

For the record, 'reign' is what a king does. 'Reins' are what a horse rider uses to guide the animal. When taking on a position of responsibility, you are taking the reins. Not picking on anyone, this has been misused several times by different people.

I haven't had a problem with the way things were, mostly because I haven't participated. I haven't got a problem with this new development, because I think the person at the helm should desire to be there and be motivated. Thank you Kevin, and thank you Phil. Let's do this.
