Yep. Kim can post the details. I've taking one of my daughters and her friends to an Anamai (sp?) conference at the trade and convention centre. Lucky me, they said I could go in with them. Think I'll sit in the truck and read my day away or head out to Ganville Island or Stanely Park to view the wild life.

I think Justin and I are still going to see what Chipmunk is like on Sunday June 14. Sylvester is near harrison right? If so that is(9am) a little early for my family's first wheelin trip. I would have to leave Ladner at 7am and still get some breakfast in. My kids are late sleepers. Justin and I are thinking of leaving Chilliwack at 9:30am at the latest and start heading up if anyone wants to wheel on the south side of the river.

hey kim I might be up for going tomorow but won't be able to confirm till late tonight though. so post where you want to meet. if I'm not waiting there at 9 I won't be coming or check here tommorow before you leave your house I'll post tonight with my Cell # if I'm in.

What a gorgeous area!

We checked out Kenyon, it's a beautiful lake, quiet, but there are a lot of bugs. Most weren't biters but they don't taste so good. The approach to the lake is rough, couple of mud holes, some large rocks and some large stumps.

With some work the 'site' would accomodate 2 or 3 tents. There is a small island about 150 yards from the access road and it looks like there is a camp site on it. Perhaps no bugs too but I don't know. Next time I'll bring a canoe.

I'd recommend a visit.

We found another camp site beside some waterfalls about 5 km south of Kenyon. Now this place was fantastic and we'll definitely be camping there in the near future.

Thanks to Jeff and John for a great day of exploratory wheeling! My kids had a blast.

Awesome day!

A bit of a dusty drive, well for Kim, and perhaps John, but not me in my air conditioned luxury mobile, we wound our way up to Kenyon Lake for a fun filled afternoon.
I believe we only took one wrong turn, but luckily John had a gps unit and was quick to turn us around on what would have been a long detour.
As we neared the lake, we cross referenced with the map book, some google earth photos, and the gps unit, and soon found the short entrance road down to the lake.
It was quite mucky, with a large stump and a larger rock the only real obstacle. There is not much there to speak of for any kind of camping, perhaps 1 or 2 small places to pitch a tent, but the lake is beautiful. As Kim mentioned, there was an island quite close to shore that would be worth a look with a canoe. The bugs were annoying, but seemed harmless enough.
As the kids fished and we relaxed, we decided to do more exploring on the roads that seemed to go around the lake. We packed up, and had a bit of an eventful time getting out up that slick muddy road. Kims hj60 with his new lift and 35" rubber made it look quite easy when he decided to hell with the finesse attempts and just punched it.
I had a bit more of a struggle, being slightly lower slung, and playing with my locker selection while also trying to finesse my way around the aformentioned large rock. Eventually I just had to give it a bit of a punch also, and tested my new sliders out on the rock. The scraping sounds down the full length of my passenger side sounded somewhat positive, and I exited that portion unscathed, with the sliders doing their job. Thank you Jason!
We then went up the round that seemed to go around the lake, but were stopped by a small washout/slide. It is passable, but some chainsaws would be needed. From the maps it looked the road deadended farther up anyways.
We then meandered back down, and going up another road were again stopped at a bridge where the spring run off had blocked the road. Again, chainsaws would be needed to clear the debris, as the bridge was still intact, but just blocked.
We turned around, and where that road began there was another little road that went down into a creek, and appeared to continue up along the creek. We decided to check out, feeling a bit like Lewis and Clark perhaps, as the road kind of dissapeared for times and we drove up the creek itself. We were rewarded with possibly one of the best camp sites I think in that area, perhaps only second to Cypress Point. A gorgeous waterfall and swimming hole, a bit of a sandy beach, and some camping areas in the trees around a collapsed shelter someone had built.
After 'oohing and ahhing' at that site for awhile, we then decided to headback towards Salsbury Lake, and go check out the road to Cypress Point. My memory, and the maps, worked out great, and we found the road no problem. Sadly, the bridge is still gone, BUT some hardworking atv'ers have made a path around and through it. With a little work, and possibly some winching, we can get some trucks through I think.
We then headed back down to the highway, said our 'until next times' and drove off in a haze of diesel smoke.

It was a fun day wheeling. Thanks Jeff, Kim and family. John, Ruby and I had a great time. But it is definitely time for new springs and new shocks. My back still is aching. Maybe some sliders would also be a good investment. Jeff's squeeling belt had me paranoid that I had really banged something up on the creek crossings. I was glad to find out it was him and was quickly fixed. Most of the dust blew off the outside of the truck on the way home. The inside is another story. I flicked on the AC at full blast and was rewarded with a rather dense cloud of dust in my face. I'll post my pics and vids up tomorrow when the homework gang is not using the other computer I downloaded them to.

Great Pics!

Looks like a fun trip. I'll have to make my way out there with the HJ for one of your runs.
