Gents,

I'm not sure how much traffic this forum gets, but I wanted to pass along the multiple positive transactions I've had with Kel-Coatings.

2 Years ago, I had some rusty, and I MEAN RUSTY, OEM riveted steelies blasted and powdercoated gloss black by Kel-Coatings. Well, long story short after returning from Afghanistan I noticed a little bit of rust peeking through my wheels. On a whim, I called Ted (frontman/owner I think), to see about having them touched up...he didn't hesitate one second and told me to bring them in and "he'd make them right." That he did, and in spades too. They blasted and recoated all 5 wheels, 2 years later, free of charge. Also, he blasted and powdercoated my 4 new disc brake steelies for $200. That's 9 wheels! Anyways, they laid it on thick and used a different nozzle and I couldn't be happier with the results. I already sold the 4 riveted wheels and I attribute that directly to the quality of their work.

So, if you've got powdercoating needs, and your in the Miramar area, look up Kel-Coatings and ask for Ted.

Tell him Dave "the Marine" sent you...

PM me for any questions.

Thanks for the tip. I will be needing some parts powdercoated soon.

No worries, just wanted to pass it along. It's not very often I feel compelled to say something...

thanks for the recommendation! I need to get a few wheels redone.

BTW, I think I saw your FJ40 at the Miramar MCX parking lot a few months ago.. that is a clean rig!

Haha, WAS a nice rig. I went from this:

I'm currently in the process of doing an OM617/NV4500/Orion 4:1, 4 wheel disc brake, and saginaw swap. I'm contemplating a CnT since I'm 4" SUA and even with shims I had some pretty bad DL angles; but I can't really get any measurements until I have the engine in so I'm kind of stumped. I suppose I can go with some generic measurements. I really just want to avoid tearing the axles back down.

It's been tough to find the time, especially since I've been getting shotgunned through a bunch of flight syllabi in prep for a 6 week course I'll be going to in September...

That said, if anyone wants to help wrench, I'm just north of Lake Hodges...
