I have a 1970 pig, it runs great, original F motor but all the sudden it won’t turn off with the key. I have swapped out the ignition switch, tried disconnecting the alternator while running. The only way to get it to stop is to disconnect the coil from the cap and rotor. Does anyone have any idea why it keeps running.

Not sure what kind of alternator you have. I have a gm on mine. Mine has to have a diode to keep the field from energizing the ignition. You could have the same issue maybe a bad diode in your alternator

Because you haven't spun a main bearing yet!

Seriously it sounds like if you confirmed your “new” ignition switch is good then you are back feeding power to your coil from another accessory. Don’t quote me but I believe the same wire will go from the ignition switch to a fuse to power some accessories (like windshield squirter) as well as the coil, the coil circuit should be before the fuse so unless you added something to that circuit you should be able to pull that fuse and isolate the issue to the switch side or accessory side.
