Hi. I have a 2000 cruiser that I put 4 bilsteins on about 60000 miles ago. They are not leaking and the ride is still ok. Working at a toyota dealership I have driven numerous cruisers without the ahc system on stock shocks and they all feel smoother and less harsh over bumps. Are the oems really that different? Anyone have experience using stock vs bilsteins? I would like mine to have the cushy ride those others have. Any input would be great. Thanks. Oh by the way how many miles are people getting out of the bilsteins?

If you decide to sell the Bilstiens, please shoot me a PM.

The Bilsteins are going to be a sporty shock. They are quite a bit stiffer than OEM. If you want a cushy, soft and compliant ride look into the Fox 2.0's. At $114.00 a piece you can't go wrong. They are great on a stock rig, but if you plan on building the truck up, I would increase the rebound by 40% to cope with the weight. They are a bit bouncy when you weigh 7,300lbs.

The Bilsteins give a firm ride, not too firm, which I like. Stopped the leaning in curves you get with the oem's. If you like real firm try Rancho's. Feels like the axle is welded to the frame.

I did not like the ride and returned my bilsteins and went oem. My opinion is this bilsteins too firm oems too soft. I am hoping the fox shocks fill the middle gap but they weren't out when I was shopping. I liked the way the truck cornered with bilsteins but the street ride was jarring.
