Together with the remote on the winch it can very much be a one person effortless job.

My Tandem island with 2 amas as they call them (aka side floats) weighs around 150lbs so no way that can be man handled up there. I had initially bought this T bar system on the hitch but when I picked up the Hobie at the dealer in Corpus 5 guys from the shop helped to get it on… I was excited to get the Kayak but set back by this until I got the rhino rack and the rest of this setup.

For the winch i used Anderson connectors and relative cheap jumper cables to hook it up to the battery. Let me take a pick of that underwood setup.

Underhood setup with Anderson connector on top of the battery with two main resettable fuses. Note that on top of the OEM fuse box is for future power needs and distribution of the same with on one side continues power and the other with a relay, powered upon start up. You can keep it obviously way simpler.

While not installed yet my near term electrical needs are an airlift pump for the airbag man airbags I have and the LRA 12.5

They will be powered from the fuse boxes on top of the OEM fuse box.

Get a 1500 or 2500 electric winch with Kevlar rope as that is way easier to handle and cannot damage the car or the roof rack.

Also consider the Rhino Rack has relative smooth edges and these ladder fittings which makes for an easy sideways transition of the Kayak on to the roof.

Yes, for a regular kayaks that maybe enough. The Hobie Tandem island is almost 19ft long and just the main hull with all fittings for the mast and ama spreaders is like 140 lbs. I also wanted a solution which requires zero overhead lifting and can be handled by one person. The setup at the battery is way extensive for other reasons. A single Anderson plug with a pos and neg cable would be enough. The Rhino Rack, ATV winch and a couple aluminum profiles is pretty simple.

There are Tandem Island folk who have build extensive A frame jigs to lift it onto their car roof. I looked at those and decided for a simpler approach. Been working trouble free and exactly as planned from day one.

Be nice to make some fittings with bolds from the bottom allowing that rear spoiler to be easily removed and re attached.

I have some space but cannot open more than about 30 degree. Very much a PITA.

I have debated removing the spoiler for this reason. So much so I have a tab open with this thread for the day that enough is enough and I actually commit.
