Sold
“1973” FJ40 - $23,900
Body is 1974; frame is 1976; Kansas Highway Patrol decided to call is a 1973.
I have a clear title in my name.
Picked this up from another Mud member Oct 2020. PO listed a lot of the work he had done in his ad >> SOLD - 1975 FJ40- Birmingham AL - https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/1975-fj40-birmingham-al.1228457/
I intended to keep it, so I put quite a bit into it to both baseline it and add a few key upgrades (power steering, front discs, etc. - see below). I recently picked up an FJ43 to have a bit more room for the family, so this one needs to move out before my wife makes me move out
It’s a solid driver that reliably starts. No leaks (really) thanks to a local TLC expert. PO replaced the rear sill, floorboards are solid; no rust or crust to note. Paint is ok, but it doesn’t take much to figure out that the Toyota Olive Brown is the fourth color the body has sported (Mustard Yellow > Freeborn Red > Dune Beige > Olive). Interior has bedliner material.
Replacement 2F with newer OEM carburetor
H42 4-speed manual transmission
Electric power steering with adjustable assist
Front disc brakes, rear drum brakes
Old Man Emu suspension with 2 inch lift, Old Man Emu steering stabilizer
Gray-painted 15-inch 60 series steel wheels with 32x12.5 mud terrain tires, matching spare tire
4Plus Products spare tire carrier
Tuffy locking center console
Aftermarket rear bench seat
Round Eyes upgraded headlights
Windshield hinge-mounted side mirrors
Front end completely rebuilt summer 2021
All fluids (engine, transmission, transfer case, differentials) replaced summer 2021
New transfer case front output shaft
New passenger front axle birfield
Comes with
OEM-style soft top bows
Paki canvas soft top (I was never able to get it to fit properly, but maybe someone smarter than me can make it work)
