I had this same K&N product on a 2001 Tundra 4.7L V8 - same engine. It definitely increased both the HP and MPGs, no question. Does anyone out there have this on their 100 or know of someone who does? Any more power and even 1-2 more MPGs would make it more than worth it. Thanks for the help!

I have always used a drop in K&N just to be able to wash/reuse it. I would be shocked to see an actual MPG increase. Normally more air=more fuel, but I could be wrong. An all out cold air intake will add better air flow for sure which means more hp, but better mpg? Seems like you can have one or the other, but not both.
Did the Tundra have anything else done when the cold air intake was installed? Maybe a MASS cleaned or something that may have bumped MPG up? If you find out a simple air filter will add 2 mpg, I'll be the first to buy one. That would be awesome, just not realistic I'm afraid.

My thing is if you get a super flowin air filter, how many particles from a dusty road are findin their way into a combustion chamber. I dont know either but I'd rather err on the side of caution and stick with a traditional air filter. There are other ways to produce additional HP if thats what you're after. If its MPG's youre lookin for, don't get hyped up about a land cruiser and know that the japanese kid that smoked everyone in math class designed the engine/transmission and made it as efficient as he could and still meet EPA regs. Just my .02

Dyno or it didn't happen.:flipoff2:

I have the K&N FIPK in my 2002 LC and can say that I haven't noticed any performance gains or additional MPG. The sound at WOT is a little improved, but that's about it. Hindsight being 20/20, I would probably not install it again.

I have noticed the most performance gain from my DT Headers if your looking for more power go this route. I think there is a third group buy going on. I think the dyno result is on Robreds signature.

Tundra w/ the K&N had a Bazani (Toyota approved as to not void the warranty) exhaust. Maybe the combination of the two gave the final result? I can tell you that the Tundra FLEW. For the LC, it'd be more about an increase in MPG than power, but more power is always nice.

@ lhommec13 - Would you say the FIPK REDUCED your MPGs at all. Defintely don't want that.

The combo of exhaust system and high air flow filter will sure enough give more HP, but as mentioned on other sites, more air=more fuel...that's where your increased HP came from.
