K&N 63 Series street legal in Texas?

I have searched all over and I can not find a site the will tell me if the K&N 63 series Air Charger intake system is street legal in Texas. Part #K/N63-9030.

I know that it is not legal in CA, but having recently moved from Los Angeles to Lakeway Texas, I am hoping for the best.

If not the K&N, any suggestions on another horse power increasing CAI? I have been looking at the AFE as well as the TRD. Any guidance would be appreciated.

I've lived in Texas for 27 years now, and used to be a licensed motor vehicle inspector (in Colorado), and I've never seen an inpector here so much as look at an air filter. I also run a K&N in my FJ80; no problems passing inspection in over 200,000 miles. I can't tell you definitively whether it is strictly legal or not, but I believe that it is and am 99.98% sure it will pass inspection here. Lots of DFW guys running them w/o problem.

If your truck passes the emissions test/inspection with the CAI, then it should be OK.

Well...it's on.

Worst case is the old stock air cleaner goes back on for one day a year. Only about an hour change over time so no big deal either way. Definitely worth it.

Having moved to Austin (Lakeway) about a year ago, I have yet to explore off road there...any advice on where to go?
