So do not-so nice guys!

Love this cruiser! Congrats Ted and family and to Eric for getting the swap done . . .finally! :)

Yeah, it was a great introduction to owning an 80. 10 minutes after saying "Yes" Ill take it we had it in Roxx's drive way and torn apart...

Don't normal people usually purchase a vehicle and drive home... use the vehicle a while and then plan out major surgery like an axle swap ??? (oh yeah and lets throw in a 2.5" lift while were at it)

Im mean really, a full axle swap and lift install on the same day of purchase ... never mind that after this major all hands on desk wrench fest there was an expectation that I was going to drive over an hour home??? That just blew my mind!!

Hats off to Toyota for truly building a beast of a vehicle.

Thanks for the post...

That's awesome, guys - impressive work! Great pics, too.

Thanks, I would call that a major introduction to the 80 series world. Guess if someone can handle tearing the entire suspension off of a vechilce that they just purchased without mental damage is a true Cruiser Head right?

Hope to be on the trails soon!!!

Miss it already!

Eric, dont worry its not like you will never see her again!!! Only every event that we go to from here till the end of time!!!

All kidding aside... we will take good care of her and you will be able to check in on her as much as you like.

Thanks again for allowing me to take the joking and riducule of its new found name off of you and on to me?:censor:

Thanks but the work and pics were a group effort.... even Stacy and Tori were wrenching on one of the axles!!!

Thanks again to everyone for your help! Love the truck !!!!

To be honest ... it was dumb luck!!!!

I caught a ride with Erymer in his 80 and I was hooked. After a good long frustrating effort hunting down a decent 80 to keep my 40 company I called Erymer and said i was done looking and will would be content with my 40. Erymer told me he knew of an 80 that just might be available...

Turned out to be one of the forrest5000's hoard. So basically it was one that I couldn't pass up... Lord knows I didn't need another TLC .. but sight unseen I jumped on it. But there was only one hick-up.... It needed and axle swap AND the other half of a 2.5" lift needed to be installed.

So, without question I said yes.... and as you can see from the pics in the thread... we jumped right in and got to work.... I felt bad because as soon as the 80 set down off the jacks you could see forrest5000 was disappointed that he had made the deal... but hey, he did get his e-locker axle back....

I absolutely love the poverty package and have plans to add a couple things but couldn't be happier with it. So really it was Erymer that should get all the credit for locating that one... and maybe that I wanted to jump in and get dirty to get the job done was the trick??? Not really sure but i sure lucked out!!!!

Ok ,rub it in!

How did I miss this name thing?
Is anyone willing to elaborate?

Lots of fond memories working on that truck. On the trail and in the shop. Good times. Certainly good times. Just whatyever you do don't call me during an event with some problem. I will always say sure you can make it you will be just fine.

PS always carry a PVC saw, a sledge hammer and some spare tin. The rest can be found laying around the campsite.

Im sure that these words of wisdom stem from experience! Were these items all used on this truck? If not it would be interesting to know how these items have come in handy.

Which name... seem now that this 80 was put up for adoption and has found a new home that its time for a NEW NAME game..... :worms:

I was specifically referring to the old name when it was still part of the horde.

Missed your post @RedHeadedStepChild

@Trollhole can elaborate. Something about broken EGR tubes and melting harnesses

Egr tube cracked and melted under hood relay box , EFI relay would not turn off . Melted EFI cooling fan tube . Marshal had to trim fan tube with a wood saw . Picture floating around some where . Some one thought ( the grilled cheese ) was a good name . I think not .

I don't name my possessions generally and I'm not a big fan of the name "Biscuit". But it doesn't really matter - it was named...

Hence, the shortly thereafter named (by me) "Blue Steel"

Probably should come up with a name for the black one before someone does first.
