well i just scored a complete front disk brake axle for my 74 cruiser. could not pass up the deal.. $100 for the complete axle.

now the question come in do i swap the outers onto my existing axle or do i just throw the whole axle in.

i guess i would need to figure out the gear ratio.. i was planning on taking it all apart and checking it out at some point before i put it in.

i needed tie rod ends and the center link as mine was bent and this axle looks to have new center link and good tie rod ends..

If yer new axle is equipped w/ the large pattern knuckles, I'd say killer score! You could use your old housing w/ the newer knuckles, birfs w/ slight grinding on the housing ends or use the new housing w/ your old diff. Relocate the brake line junction on the new housing to match your old housing's location. Check here to see if you scored the more desirable knuckles: https://forum.ih8mud.com/40-55-series-tech/117942-steering-knuckle-101-faq.html

Hi All:

"Taz," I swapped the disc frontend from a '78 BJ40 under my '74 FJ40 about 12 years ago. "PM" me if you have any questions.

Good luck!

Alan
