I have just bought a complete engine gearbox/transfer case on ebay for £300 it includes everything that is on the engine so you can just drop it in and connect the wiring connectors and water hoses if need be, the engine has 250k and was running fine before it had a slight front end crash.

Not sure if I have done the right thing, I don't really need it, but thought about the long term, if things did start to go wrong with mine then I have all the spares at hand, it does include all what is attached to the engine.

Might be a good idea to remove the head and check for coolant leaks. They tend to get cracked heads when the klms mount up.
Wont be nice if there is coolant leaking into the bore.

300 quid is a bloody good deal

Hi rosco.... I will do that in the next couple of days, I have turned the enging over on the crank and it seems a bit easy, and sure I can hear gurgling sounds while doing it! it did have a 300 mile journey to me on the back of a trailer in the rain, perhaps rain has got in the inlet manifold?

But like you say, really need to get the head off pretty quick, never done it before, not sure how long it will take.
