Hey guys,

New to the trailer forum.

I just picked up a Tentrax trailer. It is a year old, has been used twice and is loaded (over $13k sticker price, which is just crazy). I have been looking for an expedition trailer to pull behind the 60. Now that we have a little one, we need a little more gear room for the next trip down Baja. I was preparing to build a M100/416 for the purpose, but this kind of fell in my lap. The only downside is that it is not quite long enough for the planned Zodiac and motor, so those will still have to go in the truck.

Anyone have any experiences? Anyone been looking? I would be willing to consider a trade for an expedition equipped M100/416/101 to better accomodate the boat.

I pick it up on Tuesday, so pictures to follow.

Thanks!
Dan

How about just extending the tongue a few feet and add a custom rack to hold the front of the boat? (Just forward enough so the top still opens and operates as designed, but adds the needed length)

Just a thought...:bang:

Actually, the boat is an inflatable zodiac. It is hauled deflated. The issue is that the collapsed boat and motor are too big to go inside the trailer. On the last trip, I carried the motor inside the truck - right over the folded down rear seat. Now we need that seat.

I have thought about using the front rack on the trailer for the outboard motor. But, still need a place for the boat. I could store it on top of the trailer, or on my roof rack as I did before. A trade for a military trailer would let me put it all inside, but I am pretty excited about it.

Regards,
Dan

What exactly are you looking for in an M416 for the trade?

Post some pics of your trailer if you get a chance, I am curious to see what a 15k trailer looks like.

Jason,

This is what I am after:

It either needs to be there, or be the perfect starting point. I really like the design of the Tentrax trailer, I just need a little larger Cargo area, and as stated above, the Tentrax would likely compliment a newer rig a little better than my 60.

Keep in mind, the list price on the trailer is $15k. I am not looking to get a trailer of that value, but an M416 straight from GovLiq isn't going to get it!

I will post pics tomorrow.

How about this little treasure? :p:p:p:p

Lots of room...recently renovated 2 story with 2 bedrooms and a 1/2 bath...offers beautiful views from the upper bedroom. The spacious living /dining area offers a nice, cozy getaway spot. The front deck sports a rot proof deck with painted iron rails...a real steal!! Call now....lol....it won't last long!!

Yep, that would definately be trade material. The Tentrax is a great trailer, but yours would look a lot more at home behind the 60.

Here are some pics. It is dirty, but in perfect condition. Less than 500 miles.

I'm flattered you done posted up a pic of my Rubi Kamper as somethin' you'd be wantin' sir.

I'll take 40 grand for the jeeper and the trailer ... but no trades. :grinpimp:

Perhaps toss the Tentrax on ebay and then use the money to build exactly what ya want.

:flamingo:

I was planning to build one, but there is a little wrinkle in that plan - I live in Shanghai for my job and I am only in the US two weeks a year. It makes it a little hard to complete this type of project.

The Tentrax is growing on me a little - it is a really cool setup. It would look awesome behind a black FJCruiser!!

Dan

That's a nice little trailer....
I think they are pretty cool.... why not color match it to your truck and enjoy it for a while before the sale or trade anyways ?
or
Im sure you could get a amount of $$ for it and have a local shop or a mud vendor built one with your specifications.... but im sure being at home for two weeks out of the whole year makes it hard !!

Good luck to yah and let us know what you end up doing.....

Frank

TTT,

Any interest in trading?

Thanks,
Dan

It is a really neat trailer. It is loaded with accessories, and it has only been used on two camping trips. The trailer is in fantastic condition, and will make an awesome trailer for someone.

I need a little more cargo room. Specifically, the next trip down baja will include a 14' inflatable boat and a 50hp outboard. This equipment would easily fit in a converted military 1/4 ton trailer, but it will not fit in this unit. As cool as this trailer is, it is not quite right for me... It would be awesome behind a new FJ Cruiser!!

Well, guys, I have had a little interest in trading or buying outright.

I would prefer to trade for an expedition built 1/4 ton military (or Bantam civilian) trailer. But, in the event that I don't find an interesting trade by Spring, I will likely sell outright so that I can buy or build what I want.

So, if you are interested in buying it, let me know and I will keep you on the list. And, if you have an appropriate expedition built trailer that you would be willing to sell (but not trade), please contact me!!

Thanks for looking!
Dan

Still looking for a trade.. anyone interested?

Dan

Well guys, I have been spending a lot of time on the trailer forum on Expedition Portal, and on here collecting ideas for an expedition trailer suitable for our next trip down Baja. The bottom line is that while the Tentrax is an awesome trailer, there just isn't anyway to modify it for our purposes. So, it is looking like the Tentrax will be orphaned, for sure.

If you are interested send me a PM. If it is still around when the weather starts to warm up then it will go on ebay.

Thanks!

Dan
