Just bought this on ebay. If anyone's familiar with it, please let me know (outside of Dallas, TX).

I didn't get the chance to have it inspected, but the frame, body, and interior are good enough that I figured it was worth the chance.

THanks for all the advice so far. Now I need to buy a real membership and figure this thing out. They sent me a photo of the engine bay, and I've never seen so many vacuum lines.

Welcome, welcome. So when are you ordering OME Dakar, ARB bumper, 2BadFJs sliders, lockers, 33's?

We need to see some more build up threads in this section.

Nice, looks real clean. Congrats, and welcome.

I called them about it on Saturday. I live 30 miles away and was going to go take a look at it, but they said they just took it out for a drive and it had a loud knock. They told me to call back Tuesday and said they would figure out what they were going to do with it, but I didn't have a chance. I figured they would cancel the auction. I would most certainly ask them about this before you pay.

Sometime's it's better to ask questions first. I hope it's no big deal and you didn't just get screwed!

i think sometimes you just got to take the risk!!!

also very nice and clean 60, in the out side and in side it seems pretty clean so don't worry about getting screwed at first look. most look how's the engine running.

congrat's and enjoy it!!!!

The scoop (everything I know) is as follows. truck has 190k miles, apparently the dealership is sitting on receipts for at least the following:
s012 float.......
carb kit........
exhaust pipe ga.....
clutch master cyl....... 4/06
brk bearing...4/06
bx thermst.....5/06

They sent me pics of the exterior, interior, and underside. Honestly, this thing's clean enough that I'm not altogether worried. I don't know about a lift, but the pic below makes me thing my first spend will be on some real shackles.

I'm in New York, which has made the whole exercise much more difficult, but I think I got a nice truck. It'll never be totally trailed out (not enough money and not a lot of time for expeditions), but I'm looking forward to some new bumpers, probably wire some nice speakers, and see what happens from there.

I called the place about the engine knock - they said they just put some fresh gas in and it was fine, and that they stand behind the "runs like new, drives like new" statement in the ad. It wasn't an enormous financial decision, I'm using a credit card, and I know some good lawyers, so I'm not altogether worried. That said, if anyone would like to cruise over and start her up and give me an opinion, I'd really appreciate it.

Gotham City Land Cruisers

Jgordon - Welcome...I've got a 1990 Fj62 and am located in NYC. If you're not already aware, there's a good local club...the Gotham City Land Cruisers...url gclcny.com Also, there's a solid mechanic in nearby NJ named Jose Rivera. He's straight up and a pleasure to work with.

Enjoy your rig. Looks like a winner.

Ian

Nice clean 60. The springs and mickey mouse shackles will have to go immediately - the springs are flat, and being rescued by the tall shackles. It will likely ride nasty until you put some OME Dakars under it. But very clean - repainted, maybe??

M

Get rid of the shackles immediately. These things wallow bad enough without 1/16" thick shackles.

Good luck. Hodag

holy sh#t its shiny!!

It is shiny. I'm pretty happy about that. The guys also apparently agreed to get it to a good mechanic in dallas for a check-up before shipping, so that takes a weight off the process.

Congrats on the new wag!

Now order some FSM's if you don't already own them. Pretty much mandatory even if you don't plan to do much of the work yourself.

Prosit!

Tom
