bought a 2001 lx470 from a lexus dealer yesterday. nice ride!

82000 miles and the obligatory 2 year 100000 miles.

anything i should be on the lookout for, prior to hitting 100k? id rather abuse the warranty than my pocketbook.

on the lighter side. i think a marshmellow drove this thing.

not a smudge or scratch anywhere. including the drivers seat and steering wheel.

hmmm... what else....

i could of sworn i had a high speed (55mph+) yesterday. it didnt seem to be affected by engine rpm. (i put it in n) im guessing tires, but with the auto suspension, im clueless. i couldnt get it to replicate later. does the chassis resonate a bit on these? or should this ride like a rock over all goofy surfaces.

the memory steering column seems a bit loud. should i be hearing that?

anyway. it was 24k plus tax. id like to hear comments on the price too. in case any of you guys in the 100 area dont know me you CANNOT hurt my feelings. all opinions are welcome. :D

Welcome to the hundy side! 90k is your first big preventative maintenance interval: Timing belt...and most also do the s-belt, water pump, small coolant hoses that are buried around the s-belt/w pump/t-belt apart of the 90k.

Mine drove very smoothly before I modded (MT/R's don't roll so smoothly on pavement ;) ). Can't comment on your hydro suspension...

Congrats and welcome to the 100 side. I too had vibration issues right away but I was sure it was the tires and it was - new shoes makes a huge difference. Also these big heavy vehicles with giant rubber are difficult to balance -or so I have read and have been told. See if they rotated the tires and rebalanced them? Cheapest solutions first after your big purchase.

IMHO comment on the 24K - a bit high, but you did get low miles, Lexus vs. Toyota and one year newer than mine plus I had small rocks in mine vs. your marshmellow.

best not to worry about price after the fact... :)

there has been a bit of discussion on the tilt and telescoping column noise, even a TSB IIRC.

Welcome to Mud with the obligatory welcome sign:

:flipoff2:

Congrats on the new rig.

For the Tilt/Retract steering wheel there is a TSB from 2002. For Europe it is a 31 page TSB of Nov 2002, covering UZJ100 & HDJ100, should be similar for the US.
The TSB includes change of several parts, the biggest beeing the motor and the ECU, all depending on what production date (VIN) and problem you have. For a 2001 within warranty, you should just have to take it to a dealer and explain the problem. I got mine fixed for free 2 1/2 years ago, has been good since.

Otherwise, the AHC height sensors are probably the most sensitive parts. See if you can find a reason for having all three of them replaced. Read on a UK forum that they where re-designed a couple of years ago. You will probably need new ones sooner or later.

Congrats!

thanks. all.

after putting a couple hundred miles on it today. im changing the symptons. :D "new" used cars are tough to figure.

its a tad buzzy under acceleration and when the motor is above 1500 rpms. no noise, but i feel it in the pedal. same thing when stopped at a traffic light, in drive, with the foot on the brake. not having driven one new, im not sure if thats the natural state of things.

Thanks for the welcome....

Of course I didn't know you were such a LC veteran.

Congrats

"badges! We don't need no stinking badges!"

Just got an 03 LC myself....welcome to the mud!

those symptoms sound typical on a flood damaged auto from Katrina. :flipoff2:
