Just completed the 90k timing belt/water pump service along with other assorted parts. Completed the job using only Scottm and Spressomon's write-ups in the FAQ section. Thank you very much for posting such a complete write-up:). I believe scottm's is an 03 while mine is an 04. Only very minor differences such as the coolant line(s) from the oil filter housing to the intake. Mine was slightly different but made zero practical differences. Although I did not break my fan shroud, it was already broken in the exact same spot as scottm's. The hardest part other than the PIA fan housing? bolts was making a tool to remove the crank bolt. A couple trips to ACE and Lowes and it came to life. Cost about 6 bills total with full fluid changes and assorted runs to hardware stores (includes beer and rum for helper) It took about 16-17 hours total over two days.

Was a bit nervous firing it up however I swear it runs smoother now;)

Tested it out with a 150 mike trip up to flaggstaff and then towed a 85 toyota pickup home. These trucks never cease to impress me.

Now to bleed the brakes, change the power steering fluid and grease it up...

Brian

Again, thank you to scottm and spressomon:cool:

16-17 hrs seems like a while... Great that everything worked out well for you. Was this your first time trying this type of service?

Gray Matter: Glad it helped you get it done yourself! I need to do my 2nd 90K now...

First time for the land cruiser. I spent a bit of time making the crank tool and marking bolt bags. If I did it again, I could probably shave off a few hours. It was fun and rewarding.

16-17 hrs is solid for the first time! Congrats!

I'd say you made good time doing it at home and making runs for parts. If I had a shop away from home and focused on the truck it would have taken less time. It sure is a relief when it fires up and runs!
