I just bought my first 100 to replace my 96 that was totaled. It is a white 2000 LC with 160,000 on the clock I will take some photos once I take delivery of it.

Question 1 The door lock don't work from the buttons on both the driver and passenger door but do work from the aftermarket keyless remotes I have read a few threads on here with smiler problems but no one has posted what the problem was. The deal I work out with the dealer is that they will fix it on them before I take delivery but they have yet to figure it out. They replaced a part that was $420 ish so I am guessing that is the door lock ECU but did not fix it does anyone have any other ideas as I would like to take delivery of my cruiser as it is my daily driver.

Question 2 Does anyone know how good the mechanics are Larry H Miller Toyota in Murray UT as that is where I purchased this cruiser from.

I'm sorry I can't answer your question on the door locks:frown: Question, did you buy back or have the option to buy back your 96?

I'd find someone with a 100 and spend 5 minutes swapping the window/door lock clusters on the doors. If their's work in your truck then you'll know whats up, and if yours works in theirs, you can eliminate the door switches from the equation and move towards the next component up the line.

I think the main issue here is "AFTERMARKET keyless remote". ;)Steve

I had a similar yet not identical problem so I would imagine my thread was one of your search results. Maybe this info will help:

When I had my aftermarket keyless/alarm installed I had an issue with the factory alarm not disarming consistently etc and believed it to be an issue with the aftermarket system as well due to the timing. What I failed to recognize is that I had to get the ignition repaired after the infamous cylinder shaft cracking problem reared it's ugly head on me the week before and that perhaps I should look a bit harder at the Toyota components and not so much the aftermarket components.

The issue ended up being with the repair work on the cylinder and that the aftermarket alarm was actually installed properly and interfaced perfectly. The problem was 2 weak solders coming into the back of the ignition module and that when working on the busted ignition those solders were weakened and broke. Since this was resolved (re-soldered) I have had no issues, and MUCH better keyless entry to boot...

So OP it could be this or not knowing the history of who installed your alarm, it could just be a hack job. Best of luck, also a pertinent piece of info I learned on mud is that to tap into the door locks properly you tap into the passenger side, not the drivers side. Perhaps the aftermarket guy on your perspective new ride overlooked one of those details.

Just heard form the dealer that they have the dash apart and are replacing the control unit there. Hope this fixes it has and that I get the car soon.

Question, did you buy back or have the option to buy back your 96? I got to keep the vehicle on top of the check they cut me as they figured the value to be greater then what I received. Funny thing is the check was for more then I paid for the LX a year prior, I got a great deal on it. Now I am just waiting to get the salvage title to figure out what to with it next.

UPDATE #2 Heard from the dealer today that they replaced the BCM first and that did not fix it now they changing the Intergration Module and that the complete dash has been taking out, it should be done thursday. Does anyone have any insight as to what these parts are and parts numbers

Thanks
Devan

ECM maybe? That would really surprise me if they replaced that. I bet it's going to be something simple like a contact or motor.

LHM Toyota is a good shop.
