Come hit the big three. The destination is to make it to Chrome Mountain, while we will be passing Picket Pin and Iron Mountain along the way. All three peaks are above 10 thousand feet! Yes, we will be driving to at least the peak of one of them. This trail is just outside of Nye, Montana. If you are familiar with the area, you know the absolute beaty that is the Absaroka-Beartooth Wilderness (Custer National Forest).
Up to Chrome Mountain should be considered fairly easy (assuming we don’t encounter snow), but breath-taking views at the top. However, from Iron to Chrome I believe it should get more interesting. It will be a much tighter trail, so expect pin striping. Others can jump in if they have any intel on the trail form years past.

This trip is a great opportunity for camping. It sounds like a few of us are down for Friday night, and there will likely be a Saturday night crew.
As of right now, I suggest we camp Friday night where we will also plan to meet as a full group on Saturday to air down. There should be a slightly larger section of the road to pull off to air down for those driving up Saturday. It should be right before a bridge, as you look up the first stretch to Picket Pin.
Suggested Camping Location: 45.429968, -109.983933 (STILL TBD, likely till Friday)
***CONFIRMED MEET UP SPOT - SATURDAY***
At or near 45.4292, -109.9338...Meet at 9:30am, hit the trail NLT 10am
A little extra help on how to get there from Nye, as a reference point:
***Meet up location Saturday is the first "X", spot "1"***
WHEN: Saturday, July 19th (likely 18th - 20th)
TIME: 9:30 gather up, depart at 10am (see the 1 X location above)
WHERE: Picket Pin Creek Road
