Josh,
Being the hit of the event, I thought you would have a great report on all the trails you & John did, plus lots of pictures. Are you still getting your notes organized? How much of Rausch Creek's red & black trails did you run?

Kidding aside, it was good to run into familiar faces and I hope your trip back was smooth.

I'll try to write something up later but for now this is a teaser on how my week went.

 Tole 'ya you'll start breakin stuff once you venture outta the Southeast mud & get into some real rocks :flipoff2: Glad you had spares & were able to make it off the trail safely. Knuckle stud shearing will be the next problem if it already hasn't happened, trust me, BTDT. I have a Gordofab-fortified tie rod I hear you've bent your stocker a time or two. I'll bring to the Aug. meeting. Did you try the comp course?

Hendog was there but his truck is still broke in my dad's backyard. *** Henry come fix your truck before we start selling parts off of it*** :flipoff2:

bunny trail carnage

Somehow this one seemed to be missing, but now we know the truth....

Josh,
Your pictures are a lot more interesting than mine. It must come from the fact that you did more than the bunny trails.

Other than the birf carnage, did your truck work the way you wanted it too or do you have plans for new mods? I'd do the Longs & D44 stud upgrades for starters. Did you stretch the WB w/ the last mods you made to the rear wheelwells? How was the stock GM pwr steering in the rocks w/ those 35's?

I truck worked ok but could have been better. I was too low for most of the rocks and it would have been nice to have the clearance of a spring over.

We will see what I do about the birfs I hadn't broken one for about a year or so before we went up there and I don't really want to spend the money on Longs right now but we will see :hhmm:.

I flipped the front and rear springs after I put in my 4 speed so that is the only change in wheelbase.

My stock GM power steering sucks now after the trip. I think I may have finally killed the pump. Even this weekend at Durhamtown I was having problems turning even though the were muddy and aren't any rocks there.

So your underbody, front & rear springs were dragging? I'm sure you could perform a low SOA & maybe use some longer leafs from a pickup to get that WB even longer.
I have some spare birfs I'll never use & an AGR pump if you wanna try it out.

:hhmm: Tear my truck apart, spend a bunch of money on it, and not be able to wheel for awhile or keep wheeling it like it is and keep breaking.

Hard decision but i think I am just going to put a spare power steering pump that's sitting in the garage in and try to break the last of my spare birfs. I think I will be shooting for a winter project because it's too hot to work on my truck now and we have too many other projects in the way at my dad's house.

bring your spare birfs to the meeting and I will ring them for you.
