PHOENIX (AP) — Arizona's unemployment rate is up, rising to 9.5 percent in February from 9.2 percent in January.

The Department of Commerce attributes the uptick to more layoffs than expected but says most sectors added jobs for a net gain statewide of 19,900.

Construction added 1,300 jobs, breaking a nearly 2½-year string of monthly losses.

However, construction employment is still roughly half of the number of jobs three years earlier.

Officials say it's too early to draw conclusions from construction's February jobs increase.

Government was the sector adding the most jobs in February with 9,300, mostly in public education.

Leisure and hospitality was second with 5,700 additional jobs, a normal bump from the winter holiday and vacation season.

I'm hiring....if your handy with a pole. probably a bit lower than your looking though.

Ya, I'm in construction management.

Kind of reason I left Arizona, since I was layed off last year. I've been keeping my eye out but I haven't seen much.

We have a construction company up here in the valley and we're on the border of closing up shop. New construction up here is pretty dang bad as it has been for 2 years. Honestly I think new construction down in Yuma is better.

Construction will not start when the architects start working. Right now it has been estimated that 55% of the valleys architects and unemployed. But dont worry Obama on it:rolleyes:

Add in another 10% working reduced hours and another 10% that have taken pay cuts and you'll have the real state of the industry...Hence why I'm now a Texan.

Only at first. That's what I've heard, anyway. ;)
:grinpimp: Mark, you can wear a bikini any time while you clean your OWN pool:flipoff2:

Don't you have to wear a bikini for that job?

We are actually going to try that next month at the Tempe Town lake Salsa Cook Off - "bikini" models are $120.00 an hour to stand there by the booth and draw in guys. :grinpimp: I had proposed putting a few small toddler play pools to stand in and have them splash each other...etc. but the organizers said that they must wear shorts (bikini is fine though, and not have an "overt" adult/erotic intent...as salsa evidently is a family event.:bang:

Obviously next month's club meet needs to be at the Salsa cook off at Tempe Town Lake. Not for any particular reason you understand. THAT meeting I can get to!

Heck at $120.00 an hour, they'll be lining up.

Josh, I like the splashing, giggling, smacking, hair pulling idea....:ban:You think it will draw in the guys?! :hillbilly:

If you also serve some , youll need to hire some crowd control people!
