Well, it seems there is still interest by many of you to go down to Louisville and turn this into a disgraceful mess :bounce:

So, here is a thread to figure out whats what and who wants to go. Its a long read, but I want to make sure everyone knows what they are getting them selves into before they come. Its fun, and great to watch, but its a long ass day, with lots of walking. But obviously you guys can do what you want, i fyou want to have one or twoo central spots to hang out thats cool...these are all the details we can figure out.

Im pretty sure ALL the local hotels are booked! parking will prolly have to be paid for. Im not sure on the camping scene...?

The low down on what to expect...

We will get there on Friday I think and Jenn will do the check in/medical type stuff... Then we just go check out louisville, go to 4th street live, watch them setup the finish, eat, etc...

Saturday jenn will do a practic swim in the river, practice bike, and pactice run. I just sort of hang out during this and help where I can....watch the bike and stuff... That doesnt take long and when she is done with that we grab food, maybe go back to 4th street (its where everything is, bars, restaurants, etc...) and some how the whole street is air conditioned. Jenn hits bed kinda early, I catch up later.

Sunday, We get up super early (4 or 5ish) and head down to the swim start (about a 3 mile walk from the hotel!) wait there for a couple hours (sit in my bag chair and people watch) til they start the race just before sun rise. Then once she gets in the water I walk to transition (the center of the race, the bikes are there, and its where they transition from swim, to bike, to run...). Then I hang out in a kind of annoyingly compressed croud and wait for her to get out of the water. Its compressed cause the field of athletes are still compressed and the swim exit is small. But I will probably just hang out near transition and cheer her there or along the beginning of the bike course. And skip the swim exit this year.

Once she heads out on the bike, we walk back to the hotel (only about 6 blocks) and get in our cars and head to a town called lagrange IIRC. there we setup up along the road and wait for her to ride through. Once she does we wait another hour or so for her to ride through again, cause its on the bike course twice. After she goes through the second time, we pack up and head back to the hotel, park our cars and rest a bit, catch a nap, or head back to transition to see her come in on the bike and head out on the run and again yell things at her... Then maybe go rest, food, nap, etc....

After that we spend the whole time in the down town Louisville (5-6 blocks from the hotel), somewhat near 4th street live.... There she will do 2 loops of 13.1 miles, and we can see her about 4 times and yell things at her, run with her, throw things at her, pass out in the grass, whatever....

Once she heads out on the second loop, we head back to the finish, which is a huge. air conditioned, party. there are lots of restaurants and bars. We spend some time in the bars, get food and just chill, and wait for her and her bro to come in to the finish. By this time its dark, we are tired and dirty, but watching everyone come into the finish is something to see!! The next morning we pack up, maybe hit the awards ceremony, and head home.

I enjoy it and the day can be whatever you want it to be, if you want to see jenn as much as possible, then come with me. If you want to chill and see her a few times I can tell ya good places to set up.

Wow....that sounds luke an ironman day for me right there....all the walking, eating & napping ..I got worn out just reading it...as much as I truly would love to be there for you & fir Jenn...and fir me as well, I don't think I can get there, but I will ask for the time off and see

Wow. That is impressive. Good luck Jenn.

Good luck Jenn. Hope all goes well, pace yourself John its going to be a long day.

Thanks, we got in last night.

There is an athlete tracker on ironman.com. I cant link it cause I don't think its up yet. But if you go to ironman.com and follow a link to the Louisville race....her # is 127.

There is a liquor store across the street!

I went to the tracker...Jennifer Genslinger currently has no stats....what the heck is she waiting for?
If she starts early....like now, she could get a jump on things & take her time...just a thot

Good luck beating that PR Jennipurr!

Done swimming and on the bike.

If I swam for an hour and 22 minutes the crabs would be picking my bones.

John's stats are also up. 2 Captains in the first 1 hour and 30 minutes. Not a very quick pace, but it is a 14 hour marathon. His transition time from the bag chair to the bag chair in a different location was poor at best. He's going to have to pick up the pace a bit to have a chance of finishing with a good time.

I would say at this point, Jenn's chances of being able to stay standing at the end of the day are much better than John's.

Jenn is already 15 minutes behind her bike pace from last year . With the cooler temps, Im guessing wind mind be a factor in that. Hoepfully its a head wind and not a cross wind. If wind isnt a factor she needs to get her ass in gear.

Jenn is averaging 15ish mph on the bike....I think John might be able to re-gear it for more speed...
as thin as the bike is & as thin as Jenn is, I don't think wind is a factor, Jenn just isn't as young as she used to be...

I jest.......I am so impressed with Jenn it's not even funny. I don't get it myself...but her drive, desire & athletic ability is so awesome, I have the utmost respect for her
Makes me wish I could be there to hollar obscene things at her as she goes past

On the other side of things, John is averaging 15ish ounces of Captain an hour...I think he just needs a bigger cup...
The wind might be a factor with him as his chair, as well as John, is not very aerodymanic
he, too, is not as young as he was last year

Im serious, Johns desire to set in a chair & drink is awe inspiring...I truly am impressed

John & Jenn make such a great couple.....I wish them both all the best...

Jenn has inspired me.

This morning I was in the water for an hour - cleaning my fish tank. It was pretty hard. It's a big fish tank and the clown fish were attacking my hand when I got too close to their eggs they laid last week. It was pretty scary. Fxxxing clowns.

Then I went for a 26 mile run. Actually, I walked for about two miles, but my dog, Riley, ran back and forth at least 10x that amount.

Now I'm gonna ride my bike. Probably not 115 miles. I don't have time for that s***. I'm thinking about 10 miles. Down to the Andy's in Bolingbrook for some ice cream is what I'm thinkin'

I'm not sure what the big deal is about bike riding anyway. I can ride 115 miles in a couple of hours without working up a sweat.

Jenn just isn't as young as she used to be

You say that because your are already fat and old. It could be because Jenn hasnt peaked yet

Age is different with endurance sports. Unlike other sports liek sprinting and gymnastics where you peak in your teens or early 20s, endurance athelets peak in their late 20s early 30s.

Hell the two top american cyclist are in their late 30s.
