This official Club Run will be headed up to the Jellison Place area outside of Harlowton, MT. This is an absolutely beautiful area of MT. Our trail selection leads to Mount High at 8235 ft elevation. The trail is about 30 miles round trip to Mount High and back. There are several options for side trips and exploring either before or after the Club Run.

Each of our official club runs are designed to be flexible. You can run one long day (Saturday) or come out Friday night and camp and enjoy a leisurely morning on Saturday before airing down. Also, you can choose your own adventure and stay after the official club run and explore some more...It's up to you. The official run ends after Saturday's adventure.

Details:

Where:
We are going to start at Jellison Place, which is about 26 miles North-Northwest of Harlowton, MT (roughly 2-1/2 to 3 hours from Bozeman). We are going to meet Friday night for those who want to camp and leave from the same location on Saturday morning. Jellison Place camp spot and meetup spot coordinates: 46.67319, -110.07162 Again, Saturday morning trail meetup and trail start is at the same place. This is a large shared camp area and there are several camping spots to accommodate our group. So look for the group. We'll make every effort possible to be obvious. Post up if you're arriving late, and we'll keep the lights on for ya. ;). There is cell reception (Verizon) just barely, but don't count on it.

When:
Friday night
for camping, roll up anytime you like.

Saturday Morning: We are going to start the trail at 10am... please note, that means we are heading down the trail at 10am, not starting to kick tires and air down. We will start the trail at 10am sharp, please plan accordingly. Due to the nature of these trips, the group size and trail conditions it is hard for us to guarantee we will keep to the plan. If you want to ride with the club on Saturday be there on time.

Here is a snapshot of our intended route, highlighted in Yellow. Jellison Place is the Red waypoint on the right.

Trail/Vehicle Requirements:
This is a moderate trail that ends at an overlook of the valley. Trail is mostly a loop, about 31 miles to Mount High and back to Jellison Place. Expect a small stream crossing or two (water maybe as deep as 18 inches depending on runoff). Expect trees and brush to tickle your sides and some small to medium rock step ups. Please have your rig ready for the trail, don't bring a project truck that hasn't been proven and be ready for a long day of driving. Not sure what you need? Check out this link at our 406 Cruisers website for vehicle requirements: Vehicle Prep List

Other Details:
Coms: GMRS/FRS Channel 7 and HAM 146.460
Gas up in Harlowton. The road from Harlowton to Jellison Place is a well-maintained county dirt road. But can be snot slippery after lots of rain.
Bring your own food, water, supplies for camping etc.
We are a family friendly club so bring the fam along.
Well behaved dogs are welcome.
This is a driving trip, but there should be places for short hikes and photos. Bring your camera.
Remember you live in MT... plan for cold evenings and hot days and possible rain/snow/hail/blizzard/wind/blazing heat/fires at any moment. :)

That is about it. Feel free to post up any questions here. If you want to convoy to the trail post up that too.

So who is in!? I am hoping to leave Friday afternoon.

Here’s who’s in!

I'm not a club member, but I thought since I'm in the area I might come camp with yall, would that be alright?
For sure! You are welcome to come out and camp. And our Club runs are open to non-members. We just require your vehicle to have the necessary safety checks and equipment. FRS/GMRS radio is also required.

Is this in the same vein of difficulty as the Pipestone run?
I expect the difficulty about the same. But I would anticipate much more trees and brush on this run, with overall more rocky terrain. Stock and lightly modified rigs should be fine. Of course, there has been a ton of hard rain storms this year, so it's possible we see some trail sections with runoff damage.

Do you know about when we will be done in the evening?

You can pick up a GMRS/FRS handheld radio at any of the local sporting goods stores, and it will be adequate for trail comms.

@WreckDiver1321,

You want to caravan out from Billings on SAT morning?

just got the new tires on and did a short drive. As long as I can get a radio or if anyone can lend me one just for this trip I’ll be there, haven’t decided if I’m camping Friday or not, likely just driving Saturday morning. Also I did try and call right channel radio but the owner is out of state and he’s the only one who carry’s surplus at his home, but I’ll be getting a setup from him once he’s back, gotta look into what I should be ordering though.

Tires and wheels look great. Gotta give ‘em the flight test

Planning to join you all Friday evening pending a couple of minor maintenance and repair jobs.

You can pick up a GMRS/FRS handheld radio at any of the local sporting goods stores, and it will be adequate for trail comms.
Check Pawn shops as well. You might get a screaming deal. I got a radio through crutchfield. I mounted it in my glovebox and ran the cable to my center console and added an Ethernet plug in the place of a blank switch. Let me know if you want to see how I mounted it and we can meet up. Hopefully I can show you Saturday.

I’m heading down pending weather. I have to be back Saturday night so if they are still predicting flash floods in big timber then I am out. I'll check the weather later this afternoon. Although being stuck in the woods does sound fun.

Super bummed about this but I just realized my flight is on Saturday not Sunday ;(
Only just remembered when I got a reminder this morning, thought it was Sunday. Make sure to have fun for me.
