Interesting... Toyota may be taking a hit on this vehicle to sell it in the USA, mane why we don't see one in Canada.
Toyota is not taking a hit at all on the Land Cruiser. The Land Cruiser used to sell in Canada until Lexus debuted the LX450. The market for large full size SUV's in Canada is very small, now luxury SUV's like the LX is even smaller. The Land Cruiser sold in Canada before there was a LX and before there was a Sequoia.
The Sequoia with all the taxes, levies etc will cost one about $77k (Can) when all things are done. The next step is the Lexus which starts at about $85k...there is perhaps a market in the there for the Land Cruiser in Canada but it is microscopic.
Toyota sells about 20 LX70 a month in Canada. There won't be many Land Cruiser sold and some will come at the expense of the LX.
Also, I am not sure about other places in Canada but in Ontario there is a green tax on all SUV's have a certain fuel consumption rating. The LX570 qualifies for $3000 tax, the LX470 was $4000, Sequoia is $3000.
So you have to add that cost on as well.
Land Cruiser is sold in Mexico where they sell both the Sequoia and Land Cruiser. I don't believe there is a LX in Mexico.
