The only pic I have is inconclusive on the pipe. I don't see it though.

you're suggesting the pink thing goes in the black tube?
Pretty sure those are the sunroof drains. Looks like from this pictures it possibly does. From this postSo i managed to reach the sub enclosure and successfully removed it. Before I mutilate the box, does anyone know if the drain hose should connect to the black hose? Did the factory forget to connect them ? View attachment 3268413View attachment 3268412
Maybe it seperated while you were taking it apart. I would suspect you'd have quite a bit of water in the rear cabin if it was dislodged, unless you never drive/park in rain.Awesome thanks, I found mine disconnected and Ive had the car for 10+ years and this is the only time i removed the rear side panel to reach the sub
I can’t however if you reverse them the worst case should be that the sub is out of phase. If you have a decent ear you’ll be able to tell because the bass will sound hollow, especially around the crossover frequenciesSo there is slight progress. Now I remember reading somewhere on these forums that the positive and negative terminals are incorrectly labeled on the factory subwoofer and they should be reversed. Can anyone verify this?

There isn’t necessarily a right way. It may be that Toyota found the system to be in better phase with the outputs reversed. Speakers with analog crossovers (home theater and the like) have single drivers in a system wired to the opposite polarization all the time because for mechanical or electrical reasons that puts that driver in better phase. Home theater subwoofers regularly come with a phase reversal switch for exactly this purpose, because depending on where the woofer gets placed in the room it may sound better one way or the other.Ok i can confirm 100% that the terminal labels are reversed and incorrect. This is insane how did toyota overlook this? Could it be on purpose and the amp is adjusting for this somehow? The + terminal is behaving as negative and vice
Now wondering whether i should wire according to toyotas labels or wire it the "correct" way![]()
If you can’t tell the difference, then it doesn’t matter. Music signal is not a DC current so the battery test doesn’t mean much. The speaker plays just as loud whichever way you wired it, just 180 degrees out of phase. If you wanted to get crazy with it, you’d need a microphone and audio analyzer software and figure out which wiring made for the best signal response. but it goes back to, if you can’t hear a difference, then there isn’t a difference. Honestly, the front woofers probably dominate the bass response now that you have shrunk the woofer so much.Ok thanks for letting me know, it seems you are experienced in audio. If you were to wire a new "smaller" sub to your LC system, would you reverse the terminals? I just did another test and the OEM sub flexes "inwards" when i send 12v to the positive terminal and outwards to the negative. It just feels wrong and I am unable to distinguish if music sounds better with them reversed or not
Nice work. I don't think i saw what model subwoofer you bought. But now that you have 2 that might give you some flexibility in the way you wire them so that you get a better impedance match with what the OEM sub was.Change of plan...it looks like I have space for 2 small subs rather than one...so thats on the way
Here are some photos, i managed to close the opening and it went better than expected

Like @grinchy says, definitely in phase with each other.,. and like he said, wouldn’t be a bad idea retest which phase as a unit sounds better since you probably increased the overall volume.Do you suggest I have one reversed and the other following the standard? Or it’s best to have both connected the same way whether inverted or not?
