Can't pull the pinion without removing the carrier. It's essentially like a cruiser diff

tongue storage!

got all the wiring soldered and done! side markers on.

tail gate latches, i like the black!!

im thinking ill leave the axle alone for now as i plan on changing it at some point. still gotta pull the drums off tho......

Why pull the drums off, are they causing an issue?

We have had my brothers Datsun for approximately 25 years now. Still rocking the stock axle, drums and all. I see no reason to change.

Heck, his still even has the stock gas tank. We had always planned on using it as an aux tank for the cruiser.

The Datsun p'up bed based trailer that my friend Ruben built for towing behind his FJ40 still has all of the fuel tank bits too. He added a battery and an electric fuel transfer pump to fill up his various quads & m/c's or to keep the 406 SBC in fuel on long trips.

That was the plan, course, we are both pretty lazy so it has not happened yet... ;)

I wish mine still had the tank. I've been looking for one with no luck. If he wants to part with his let me know ! I want to get the drums off because the shoes are hanging up a little so I would like to remove them.

Un adjust them ;)

nope, you access them through the backing plate.

tried the adjusters with not much luck. its a little better but still rubs a little.

added some tie downs to the bottom of the bed.

i think its just about finished till i start the RTT rack. time to clean the garage!!

lol, hit up Dr. Red on here and ask :)

An easy tank to mount would be one from a late 60's early 70's era VW bus. Finding one of those may not be easy, but they're a simple rectangular shape with a fixed filler neck. They're ~10 gals each, so put one on each side.

googled a pic and that one may work well. i need something with an angled filler neck from the top of the tank, and the vw looks like i might be able to work it. Thanks!

first real use! picked up my old pellet stove from my old house, garage will soon have heat!
