OK,
So now you guys have seen some pictures. I'll try to keep up dating them as I make progress and the truck starts to look different, although I don’t know if I want to alter it too much seeing as how it’s such a chick magnet. Anyway, I posted on a few forum boards as I was having trouble getting the truck to start. Turns out that the carburetor I was using was a bad rebuild and the Choke butterfly had been misaligned. So figuring that I would have other issues as well with that carburetor I swapped out the junk yard unit I have picked up a week or so ago. After that was all hooked up I fired the truck up and now it’s running good. I need to adjust the idle but starting and running is no longer a problem. Most likely the engine that is in the truck now will be removed because of bottom end noise. An engine rebuild may make a good winter 06-07 rebuild project.
As far as the igntion switch electrical that I wanted to change to a more permanent set up will have to wait. I plan on putting in a master kill switch so I don’t fry my electrical system if I sink the truck or if I want to disconnect the battery.
Jim As far as the Sparking problem goes. I put a Coil in it out of a 1984 truck. I ended up cleaning out all the jumper wires that were under the hood and have most things back to stock except for the above mentioned ignition switch.
Next on the to do list is make sure my power steering on the truck is good the reservoir and pump seem to be empty so I hope everything ends up to work ok. I will also probably start to reassemble the interior.
I'll keep you posted.
