Well my new old jack I found through MUD showed up yesterday with the rods. I got all excited and went out last night to put everything in its place only to realize for the first time that one of the bottom rod holders/brackets (the one closest to the door) was broken, bottom half missing!

Does anyone know if someone is making repops of these? I thought finding one from a 40 would work but then I went and looked at my 40 and it’s not the same contraption...

Thanks in advance everyone!

Sorry should have stated it’s a 75’

I’ll check that out thanks Skip! Got the bed pieces from S. America yet??

@76FJ40 If you have an extra I’ll gladly take it off your hands! and beers on me next time you are in PDX!

I think you want "76 FJ40", not 76FJ40. OBTW, I also need a jack rod holder.

No worries mate! I think Bob and I are used to this by now. I will let you know what I find. My scrap cab is a 69'. Do you know if the clips will be the same between the two year models?

The interchangeability between the two years is a great question. Can someone with knowledge of a 69’ and a 75’chime in as to if the clips are the same between years?

It appears I have a full set in this 69' cab. One has the top tab bent down/ closed. I suspect it may break off when straightened. Which one do you need? I could also use suggestions on how to properly remove these items.

@76FJ40

I need the bottom one nearest the door. But to my naked eye, without measuring the top and bottom, and either side look very similar. Can anyone speak to any differences in size?

It looks like they are spot welded on or riveted can anyone help with this? Perhaps someone has some history as to how to remove the clips without causing irreparable damage?

Thanks for the help everyone!

So the bracket is spot welded to the cab. The clip is riveted to the bracket. I drilled the spot welds. The brackets will need a little R&R before installation.

I think you are correct that there are several of the clips that appear to be same. I can get close up pictures now that I have them out so you can compare it to your original.

The bottom clip closest to the door is lager than the two above it. It looks like you may need the smaller clip.

@76 FJ40 you are absolutely correct. I need the “middle” clip closest to the door. Which is definitely smaller than the one on the bottom that holds big angle rod that you can use to start these beasts.

That smaller clips holds the bottle jack rods. These 4 clips that hold the jack rods appear to be the same size and then the bottom most 2 clips are the bigger ones I think. Please correct me if I’m wrong. Hopefully my pictures help further explain my words.

And it looks like you have removed them successfully!!

Let me know what I can give you for the one I’m in need of sir! Thank you very much!!

Man I must need another cup of coffee. I’m butchering these description. My apologies.

The clip closets to the door holds the crank start handle and is the only one in that “column”.

Moving into the cab away from the door there is a column of 3 clips. From top to bottom it goes jack rod clip, jack rod clip, then crank start rod clip.

The row closest to the middle of the cab, farthest from the door is the same top to bottom as the middle. Jack rod clip, jack rod clip, crank start rod clip.

I need the middle column middle clip for the jack rod...

HA!! I’m trying to make this as difficult as possible!! Again hopefully the pictures help.

I believe you're correct sir! On my rig the lage crank is used to let down the spare tire. How about $10.00 plus shipping? It should ship in a small flat rate box.

Sounds like a deal to me!! Very very fair price. Can I PayPal you?

It’s crazy how some folks inflate the price of things. You sir are not one of those folks. I’m still trying to find the piece that bolts to the bottom of the cab and holds the bottle jack in place for less than 55$-60$....seems to me this should be about a 20$ piece but then again if someone is willing to pay it...

Ya I did when I got into the tear down parts that I expected to be salvageable they were not to my liking. So I had to have more replacements. Fast forward I now have them replaced and have an workin on the floor, nothing complicated but time consuming.
See my section of 40-45 and the pics I have posted. Currently the 45 is up in Idaho getting the Mercedes 606 ready to install, starting next month. Will start a section related to just the 45 so you could follow along. That alone has been a journey in it self. Good luck in getting your clips it appears you are in good hands with your followers.
