Well thanks to fj40rebuild aka Mark for the bumper with fairlead! Looks alot better with a fairlead on to hid the void that will exist for a while till I can afford a nice winch.

I also wanted to show my idea for replacing the cheesy turn signals in the bumper. First problem is the odd size and second is the angle of the bumper/light housing. After some shoping around the best solution I could find was a set of Pilot driving lights (PL-1078ck). The lights taper down on one end allowing you to see the square cut out in the bumper but I can live with that. With the tapered end positioned as such, the lights will face the most forward in the bumper. However they still aim outward which is a plus since it adds a wider angle to the headlights but then prevents them from being used on the street. Due to this I tied them into my Warn aux lights circuit. Also only half the light fits into the bumper, the glass part sticks out...see picture. I need to find a better mounting system but right now I'm using zip ties and belive it or not, they hold very tight and are adjusted well.

I have been thinking about putting some kind of fog light in there and tweaking the bumper.

I assume you are asking about the bumper. I'd say less than 30 mins to have the stock bumper off and the the ARB on. It took me longer since I washed the area under the turn signals that the stock bumper covered. Also it was easy to lift and slide perfect over the frame, but you may want an extra hand to save your back unless you work out and do dead lifts. :D

I'm guessing you don't wheel given those plastic lights sticking out in front of the bumper?

I was thinking along similar lines. I broke the plastic lenses on my TJM bumper the first time I went on the trail. The ones on the ARB have survived. They are smaller and tucked in a bit. But anything sticking out would quickly find a rock or a tree.

Don't get me wrong. I think it looks great. But it would not work for me.

I think the lights would win v. the front porch poles... ;)

BTW they are glass, I would never buy a light set with plastic lenses.

But you'd put glass into a metal bumper designed to take impacts??? :flipoff2:
