I'm starting a new thread about Rob M becasue "I've got bad news" just doesn't cut it anymore.

I'm very happy to report that Rob was in great spirits this morning. He is taking the approach that he got a new lease on life; thankful to be alive and to soon be able to walk again. It was incredible to see him so positive about what happened, and how many good options now lay infront of him. His attitude, more that anything else, is going to be the key to his quick recovery. A great example for us all.

He really is recoverying quickly. Before I left today I saw him, under his own power, move from his bed to the chair beside the bed. It took considerable effort, and clearly a painful move, but he's getting himself independantly mobile again.

Rob asked me to let you all know how much your support means to him. He is deeply, deeply touched by the reponse he's gotten. Without you all, Rob said he wasn't sure how he would have made it (and continue to make it) through this. He is keenly aware of how our community has rallied to his side.

He's read the the orginal post about his accident ("I've got bad news") and the ensuing thread. It's about 14 pages printed out. That really meant a lot to him. He says thank you from the bottom of his heart.

Estimated release from captivity is now Tues/Wed. As soon as he has access to a computer, he wants to starting writing people back to say thank you personally. For now, I get to play messenger.

So, on behalf of Rob, truely thank you.

(He's got his cell if you want to call him)
(If you're going to visit, bring a bag of Doritos. He mentioned missing those).

so do we have to put those doritos in a blender, or mix them with jello or something ?

I am glad to hear that he is doing much better. Many have died from cars falling off of hoists, including a student and a high school i went to and worked at briefly.

Rob if you ever feel "down," just think about how much worse it could be.

get better soon.

I talked to Rob today, and he is chewing better. The tooth he moved back into position seems to be taking. He is still going to be up for some dentistry after he is further along the road, however he seemed in good spirits, and has the CC meeting as his goal for this weeks progress. Soooooo...blender not required!

Really great to hear!
Can someone please email me Rob's number?

Does this mean the meeting is still at LCI?

I was just talking to Rob (Tuesday morning) and he wants the meeting to go ahead as scheduled at LCI Thursday at 7:30. He may shut it down a little earlier than usual if he gets too tired.
As for dinner, I will be going to the Pantry at 6:00 and hope others will join me there.

No computer so haven't had as chance to send my best wishes to Rob, so on behalf of me and lindsay get well soon Rob, and we hope everything turns out for the best it can for you.

I don't know how others feel, but perhaps the CC could do something for rob to help him out financialy a little as he will be out of work for some time. Maybe there is something we could do to help out such a dedicated cruiserhead after his accident

Rob's out of the hospital :bounce:
The meeting should be at Rob's shop as planned, barring any accidents around here today :D (I'm at Rob's shop right now) waiting for my Quizno's sub.

Oh, that is so bad for karma. Tempting fate a bit. =: ) :whoops:

Itsn't that like talking about a goalie's shut-out with 2 minutes left in a game

...or a pitcher's no-hitter going into the bottom of the 9th
...or a weekend of damage free wheeling with 5km left to the trail head
...or a perfect winning season with 1 game left before play-offs
...or a (insert you analogy here)
