After many years of loyal and unflinching service from the RX, my blessed wife decided to hit an Escalade last night.
Wife and kids are fine, in fact hardly noticed the impact thanks to Toyota engineering, even against a vehicle twice their size. Note: just because a vehicle is twice the size doesn't mean it will fair any better, she was able to drive home, while the escalade was trailered away.

I think this will escalate the plans on buying and building an 80 daily driver for the family, so she can have something JUST as safe.:flipoff2:

I came into the thread all ready to 'go there', but you changed my mind. :D We'll see if anyone else takes the bait. :shotts:

Get a 95 or newer for the missus and kids. It'll have airbags.

Had my eye on the anniversary edition, dune color a while back.....but the price was still over $13,000.00. I would love to get a bone stocker 96 or 97 and let her drive it - to eventually swap a small item on once in a while so she does not immediateley notice the mods... (nothing big like a snorkel or swing away right away)

sneaky

Personally, if I was going to have one strictly as a DD, I would swap in the OME no-lift kit. It gives about 1/2 inch of lift and a slighty stiffer ride than stock. Then maybe a bullbar for good front end protection.

100-series!

BAIT TAKEN! :D

Good thing you all are OK. What happened to the Escapade?

Where she hit it in the rear end the bed shifted and moved over about 8-10 inches. It was one of the escalade trucks, like the avalanche.

Have you thought about getting a 100? Haa haa! Just kidding Shotts. I had to throw that in. Good Hunting.

are you thinking about an 80 just for a future build for yourself?? i only ask this cause my wife has absolutely no desire to drive any cruiser for fuel mileage and stuff. she says she just doesnt need that much vehicle.

Glad the wife and kids are ok. good luck on the 80 search, I always wanted a 40th as well...but found a black lexus :D

I want it for a daily driver for her, as well as something with a basic capabilites to take the entire family camping with enough room for all the kids accesories. Currently, the 4runner has space limitations, and no third row for more kiddies down the road..

Reading your desired vehicle application I bet everyone here knows just what I'm thinking right now. ;)
