BOD meeting soon?

2010 STR wrap up blitz underway...

We need to be discussing Board Nominations ASAP.

I would also like to discuss playing more of a background role in the club and let some of are newer members bring ideas to the table and see someone step up as taking on Presidency moving forward. I am willing to maintain my position and let the VP's of each region run with it, but time is now more limited than in past years. Seems the traffic has been a little less active in the last few months...but I have just been lurking here and there.

Thoughts?

Greg - I'm kinda in the same boat. Things have really ramped up at work since we took on some new investors and with the weekends leading up to and since Erica's surgery, I haven't really had much free time at all lately. Of course, I'm hoping that the 2nd part is just short-term (and it should be according to her doctor). I still want to help out with the club as often as I can, but I think it's time to let someone else carry the torch as Triangle VP, as I don't feel I've been able to do the job justice lately.

I think it would be good to get some more people active, but the board seems to be the only ones consistant and making events and meetings. There are a few out there that attend that don't hold positions, but I'm not sure who wants to step up. It may just become a shuffling process, but we'll see what happens.

We just have to make sure we get in touch with members that are outside the Mud arena, as they might step up and get more involved... Not sure what's going to happen!

Yeah, like I said, I definitely want to continue to stay involved in some capacity, and will help out when I can. I just feel like I haven't been able to give the club the kind of time it needs/deserves lately. Like you said, it might just be a shuffling thing, but hopefully we can get some new blood to step up.

Yeah, but I'd hate to have to choose which event I'd like to attend due to having two clubs...

We were just out west in Brown Mt., and no one from the west attended! Only us central guys!

Brian's original post and Greg's followup deserve our full attention.

This thread is titled "items to address" Joe. If expanding the club into western north carolina like we all talked about last xmas party and Greg and I have talked about a few times then I don't know what is. If trying to make a sub club from the group isn't an item to address for the BOD then I don't know what is.
If my trying to get more active members down here are not items to address then that is also fine.
I won't bring it up again apparently they aren't worthy of this post or worthy items to address.

Al, I completely agree that what you brought up needs to be discussed. However, this topic is about Nominations (we have none yet); roles; the schedule; the very structure of the club. With none of that settled, trying to grow the club won't happen. Let's take care of the fundamentals, and devote a topic specifically to your very valid questions.

I'm in agreement that we need to address the primary issues and the club conflict issues should be looked at and discussed also.

I'm also concerned/confused as to the club's directive/mission statement and feel that is important for the BOD to discuss and define it.

My idea is to stimulate discussion related to primary items as brought up in the "other" discussion. Do we drift toward UC with a couple "large" events or keep the monthly program as exists. Its my feeling we could do both. In as much as I know some don't want to see our primary event to become so cumbersome that it uses up all the club's resources (man power mostly), I can see this event offers the greatest number of members who can attend, participate and enjoy one of the earth's unique places.

Yet, keeping the monthly events is primary to what has built the club.

Just food for thought...

I nominate Clint Strong for VP of the Triangle area.

In light of Greg's comments; and his ongoing commitment to and influence on the club, if he accepts I would like to nominate Brian Keefer for President.

i with the following
Keefer for President
Strong for VP of the Triangle area.

speach, speach...

Wow,

I have had 3 weeks off (first time in my entire adult life)...(well I just worked on my FJ40 to keep from becomming a lazy alcaholic) and I feel like I have done 3 years worth of FUN activities in that time and that I could have been the president of the USA and done just as much in that time.

That being said I WISH I could hold a position (I know I haven't even paid my dues...someone PM me on how to do it again and it is on its way). I know my military life will never allow that and sorry but on my own accord I would never move there. But this Club is soooooo STRONG, AWESOME, and everything I connect with I would almost consider it just because of y'all. From the very beginning this club was right on track with what was needed and I'm sure it will continue to head in the right direction. The way I see it.

#1: Don't get your heads up your asses. The magazine was cool but the club is way more than they could every put into pictures and words...if they could put it into beer then they might be close.
#2: Don't focus on just a couple of main rides: the STR is the Flagship and amazingly relaxing/bonding/good time but Uwharrie and small things like the Christmas Party, Christmas Tree cuttings, and HAMOMs are really what makes this club.
#3: Keep it family orientated. I have yet to go to ONE Alabama ride becuase they are to far north and not family orientated at all. Hardcore wheeling is not what brings people in PERIOD.
#4: Organization if VERY imporant. They are so fly by the cuff down here that nobody shows up at all and all they do is argue about the small stuff. I serioulsy read your threads more than the Alabama threads because you all have your s*** together.

So after all that I'm sure you don't have any more answers. But good luck and I forsee great things in the future of ONSC.
