pulled my transfer case out of the old taco finally. Not super happy but I’m going to talk to BCC tomorrow. He has always been good about things. Sucks because who knows how much metal got to what and it’s not as easy as ordering part numbers from a Toyota website. Hopefully he can help me. Pics of what I’m talking about. All three gears are missing teeth which means a full rebuild of the back case.

Good luck! Sorry to hear that, let us know how it goes. That Tacoma is a tasty taco.

Did you get this sorted? I'm keenly interested in the taco case and a doubler for a future build.

Was this from our Ruby trip?

Yep.

Kevin

The back case is a Trail Gear conversion to a gear case. Now discontinued which is mega bush. Talking with Tehran I've decided to send everything back to him in hopes he can piece it together with what he has there. Pain in the arse going back and forth on that many parts. I am also sending my taco chain case as well, just in case.

If I did it again I think I would go with marlin or inchworm ( not sure about there taco availability ). I would not bother with the 4.7 x 2.28 just 2.28 x 2.28. I may never rock crawl like in the magazines. I've been in Ludacris low once for about 6'. Don't think it was worth it.

My mini-truck has double 2.8 tcases and it’s been low enough for everything I have ever done so far. I was hoping for a more modern option for something I am scheming up. Maybe a black box to np205 is the way to go

Not sure about that black box either. Tyler’s experience wasn’t the greatest during assembly.

Agreed. I wouldn't put it behind a toyota transmission. I'm thinking about using it as as adapter between different brand/type of transmissions and t-cases.

All except I tore one of the kit seals so I’m waiting for that. It’s custom I couldn’t match it anywhere.

Was due to an idler bearing that let go and then checked out all other areas of the t-case

that's a bummer. Any idea what caused that bearing to go? is this going to be an on-going issue?

No I don’t know why it happened. I had the same thoughts as you but I’ve found several forums that have people running the same setup. Hopefully not a common problem.

Look familiar? Almost the exact same spot at ruby too.
