is toyota tacoma prone to surface rust (1 Viewer)

i was wondering if you guys are experiencing alot of body surface rust on your tacoma. i have a 01 crew cab & i'm seeing alot of surface rust, on my mirror mounts, hood etc. i clean it regularly but still. any recommendations

01 DBL cab owned here, and no rust to the extent you're describing.

I doubt the dealer will cover this. Do you keep it waxed? They salt the roads like crazy here during the winter and mine is rust-free on the body. Keep it washed and waxed.

i was thinking of having the truck repainted instead of touch up but i'm not sure if thats a good idea

Wow. That's amazing. My 1986 4runner has the original paint and looks almost new. I would wax it regularly. I cannot imagine many 2001 Tacoma trucks being repainted unless it was involved in an accident.
