Is this normal... rear brake pad uneven wear??

So I was rotating the tires and checking the brakes while at it. For some reason the inner pads on BOTH sides on the rears were pretty much toast and the outers looked like new. I pulled the calipers off completely expecting both to be stuck or frozen and they both seemed to slide and move freely as designed. I've dealt with stuck ones before and know they will cause uneven wear but both rears slide fine. The interesting thing was the two inner pads had the exact same amount of wear.

Is this normal for the LC? I'm relatively new to them and only put about 20k miles on mine so far (124k total). I checked the pads when I bought it and they looked good at the time (inner and outer).

Is 20k-25k typical wear on the rears?

Thanks.

When you get uneven wear like this its typically a sign that the caliper needs to be rebuild, or the slides need to be greased. Its not evenly applying pressure to both sides of the caliper. Not a huge deal, but may want to grease the slides on the calipers and see if it helps wear more evenly.

Pretty likely to be a caliper problem of some sort. If the inner/outer pads were wearing evenly, you'd probably get double the miles out of them, which is closer to reasonable. Even if the pistons are moving freely, are the inner pads moving smoothly in the caliper? Have you ever checked to see if the rear brakes are unusually hot after driving around? Have you ever bled the rear calipers? The only other possibility I can think of besides a caliper problem is perhaps the last time the rear rotors were turned, the inner side was left rough, which wore that pad more quickly.
