Is this LX570 rusty?

THIS CHANGES EVERYTHING

Not really. I’ll go with an Aux port or the combo CarPlay/dash cam thing if I need to.
They have Bluetooth for calling, but not music. A Grom vline would also render that conversation moot.

Is see nothing navel jelly and paint couldn’t fix.

Control arms are replaceable. If it was under body rust sure fight back for a partial deposit refund, but what I see ain’t no big thang.

It’s got over 100k miles, how perfect does a used suv have to be?

I’d offer $12,900

I’m glad I made the decision to post my question to the forum. I’ve had several hobbies over the years and I’ve realized that I usually find myself more in the risk tolerant side at the beginning. However, as my experience grows, I end up settling at the more conservative end of the spectrum.

At this point in, for this hobby, I’m currently vacillating between the two. I can appreciate both points of view, but since this vehicle falls more into the utility side of things instead of pleasure, I think being more conservative would serve my purposes well.

I would avoid this rig. As @bloc notes, the backing plates on the rear brakes are rusting. I see shocks that seem to be leaking, and a lot of rust on some of the AHC components. Some of the rust seems OK and the control arms are probably fine even though they are rusty though you may have trouble getting a good alignment if the cams are rusted. The $1800 repair is probably the valley plate leaking coolant, and that price isn't too far off... I think I paid $1400 for it last Oct.

Personally I'd look at that southern 2008 rig with 150k on it.

Herew are some photos of said rig.
It spent the first 60k miles In California. Then Utah up until 120k miles. And finally in Florida up until 150k miles.

Hard to tell from the photos but there seems to be a lot more rust than I'd expect for those locations, especially on the passenger side UCA and a lot of the welds. But it could be a mixture of the lighting and the fact that the chemicals Toyota uses on the frame don't always adhere well in the weld seams. Supposedly for those rusty seams you can tell if it's actually rust by using a wet cloth. That said from the photos it looks way better than the video from the other truck.

That’s flood f

Hi, the shock thing is common, might not be leaking, when I looked at my front which has 34k miles. There is just a little "shine" on top of the shock. Even on my GX before, I put all OEM shock, just a few years there is a little bit of oil mist, no big deal.

This pass the checklist for CPO premium warranty etc. But once in the owner hands (me) they would like to say the shock is leaking and probably send a ridiculous bill, but they didn't ONLY because I have bumper to bumper warranty until 2029. (Same with tires, perfectly good before sold as CPO, next visit taking out a tire measure gauge, and is now dangerously bad) These guys walking around the service entrance with the tablet, just swipe and check tick box, give you a 4 figure bill. Even though I got 2 year free oil change and maintenance I decided to do it myself now

OP, why can't you just pickup something from LA, 1-2 owners. I know maybe it's a budget thing. Just wait, when you see one drive over and buy it. remote shopping is not needed from LV.

That would be the most ideal option of course. However, my financing is giving me such a favorable rate under the condition that it comes from a dealership (not an independent one). Kind of limits my search severely.

Just be patient, if you aren't pressed to find something ASAP.

AutoNation, Carmax, and Carvana will ship vehicles to you as well. (AutoNation will if they have a local dealer, that's how I had mine shipped from Houston to Chicago). The upside of a service like Carvana is that you have 7 days to tell them to come take it back at no cost.

Good point.

On that note.

What do you guys think about this?

Yeah that last one looks very clean. Obviously there's more to a vehicle than just rust (or lack thereof), but it's a good start

Couple missing splash shield bolts but that’s pretty standard. Looks great otherwise.

Yup! I agree, this unit looks better than the other examples. Take it for a test drive and make an offer if everything checks out to your liking.

Another update. The vehicle shown above was taken away right from under me, but luckily another one showed that seems to be in similar condition.
Deposit has been placed.
