My quota is about full. Is there an easier way to delete the pics I've previously posted than searching for each post and individually editing each thread to delete each photo separately?

Woody,

This brings up an interesting point. In the 80-Section we have seen some valuable posts "lose" the attached images when a member decides not to renew or for whatever reason (health, death) leaves 'Mud.

To me, it is a shame to lose this valuable Tech information when someone has moved on for whatever reason.

Is there some way that the images in Tech could remain on the Forum?

the only way images get removed is if the user chooses to remove them...an expired star doesn't remove images, but a user who loses the star and needs space may end up deleting a lot

about the only alternative is to Thread Tools > Show Printable Version and then print that page as a pdf document and have it archived - some things have been done that way already. Very doable.

I guess those missing pics were intentionally removed by the member when they lost their star and needed more space. Pity.

How would the option to create the PDF work for the forum in general? I'm not talking about me creating a personal archive on my local computer. Is the PDF option something that the mods could do to keep the threads with TECH content?

I would vote that a non-star member could attach 10 (or whatever) pics... period. Once they use their 10 then they are done or they have to start linking to another site or whatever. They would not be able to delete posts to reclaim space. They could ask a mod to delete something if it was incorrect or in bad taste, but it wouldn't give them more attachments.

I would also vote that a non-star member gets NO attachments. That would also solve the problem.

I guess I'm just looking for a way where we don't have "gaps" in the older posts. I was looking at one yesterday (the carbon buildup thread in the 80-Section) and the poster described some things in the attached image.... but there was no longer an attachment. Kind of a tease.... This was not the first time but it was the one where I was looking for something in particular... its starting to happen more often now.

Thanks for listening...

to dam bad woody didint put it to a vote :grinpimp: this aint no democracy :D

Just kidding ;)

I agree, it pisses me off when im going thu old threads and somone is like, (take a look at these photos) :crybaby: nothing there!

it would be alot of work, but you could pdf all the good info in your FAQ and archive it! the only issue is when new stuff is added to an existing thread

I like the idea....really, it'd be nice to have someone copy/paste the thread info into an "official" writeup for the Tech Links and create a permanent page for it...

I don't have the time presently, but might in a year or so....lol
