I am thinking about replacing the stock coil with a better one ie msd blaster coil, accel, jacobs, etc. Is the stocker coil special or does an aftermarket upgrade just bolt right in.

Your input as always is appreciated
Thanks
Dan

I had a jacobs Omni coil for awhile. I will sell it to you if you want it. Had to unhook a wire with a green connector and into the coils wiring so my tach would work. They sell aftermarket coils that bolt right in place and are same size roughly. I don't think you will see any difference with another coil.

kevin thanks,

i have a friend that has a new msd blaster two pole canister coil and was just trying to make sure i would not screw anything up.

thanks
dan

How is an aftermarket coil an upgrade?
To put it another way, what is inferior or inadequate about the Denso coil?

Inquiring minds want to know.

As i understand it thesymantics of the coil driven ignition, the coil takes your 12v from the battery/alternator and steps it to 30000 volts + the stockers usually run from 20000 to 30000 while some aftermarket coils run from 30000 to 60000 volts. the theory being that a more powerful arc that crosses the plug electrode the more complete the combustion of the atomized fuel under compression which in terms of the tractor more hp and potentially fuel mileage. now let me clarify that it is not a huge difference maker but in squeezing blood from a turnip every little bit helps.

now as a matter of personal knowledge i have no idea what the toyota stock coil produces

I've been running an accel super stack for about a year and a half now, no adverse affects. It is a little smaller in diameter that the original, so you'll need to find a way to fatten it up a tiny bit so the igniter can clamp on
