i tried searching online but didnt have any luck and was wondering if it’s possible to increase the number of parking sensors. I have a 2020 lc200 with 2 parking sensors in the front and was wondering if its possible to increase them to 4 by making a Y harness for left and right side. Its just an idea but wanted to know if someone has tried it before.

It only has two on the sides as shown on the pic and i want to add two in the middle.

Pretty sure the lx has 4, I can’t remember, I took them out and threw them away. You could just buy an lx harness and swap it in, drill some new holes and boom, 4!

Lx only has 2 in front. I suspect Toyota thinks they only needed 2 because of the front camera. I wish there were 4 as well.

Unfortunately the lx also had 2 in front, i just checked from 2008 to 2021, all of them have 2 only

How many of you have damage your front bumper because of only two sensors ?

The two in front have detected everything for me. Toyota knows what it is doing.

Don’t forget that the newer models have pedestrian detection in the radar along with front camera as noted above.

You are correct, but sometimes i get very close to objects and the sensor wont turn on because its on the sides and this honestly stress me out xD. In the middle east it comes in different types and mine doesnt have a front camera, thats why i had the idea of getting two extra in the middle.

The land cruiser 200 was my first vehicle with cameras and sensors. I’ve driven for more decades than I want to admit without them, and never hit anything while slow speed maneuvering/parking. Parking sensors and cameras are a nice addition to the “tool belt”, but not a substitute for knowing your vehicle and where you are placing it. Spend a bit of time familiarizing yourself with the vehicle with the sensors turned off and you may find it makes you a more skillful driver. And it is easier and cheaper than trying to add sensors to a vehicle safety system.

Indeed its not necessary, but a helpful tool to know the limits. I started to get familiarized with my car but what i most afraid of is the thing i dont see such as small poles pocking out of the ground on someplaces, things that i dont see. This what made me think of this idea. Although as you said its not necessary but sometimes i want to make my ideas come true even if they are not necessary, just to get the self satisfaction of accomplishing an idea.

Fair enough. I wish I knew more about the system and could help you add sensors. I wonder where the parking sensor logic is housed - in a separate electronic control unit (ECU) just for that purpose possibly? If so, maybe you could cross reference the part number from your model with a different specification model (like on partssouk.com) to see if they are the same part number? If so, maybe you could purchase the additional sensors and wiring harness from that model? With all of the land cruisers in the Middle East, you should be able to find a place that sells the pieces you need. Another possibility: when I was in Qatar there were shops all over the place that did land cruiser work - maybe you could find a shop like that and get their advice?

I will start with first comparing the front and back harness because i relaised that the rear have 4 sensors xD, if it had the same connectors i might try to fit the rear harness front and install two extra sensors and test it out. Here in qatar the #1 car is landcruiser so almost every shop work on this car xD, if i didnt find any luck doing it my self i might go to the known shops here. Thanks though for the advice 👍🏻

I’m pretty sure most of the other lexus:Toyota vehicles with park sensors have 4 in front. I can say without a doubt that I have almost bumped into things expecting the beeper to start and it didn’t because it was centered between the outside sensors. Now that I know you can’t use the system that way, I won’t try, but as far as the sensors are concerned, it’s an inferior setup to only have 2 vs 4.

I checked the 2021 LX and I see 4 sensors in the front. Two of them are in the grill.
