Is it possible to get the Land Cruiser Sahara (UZJ100) in the US?

I love the styling on the Sahara edition. I know it's available in Australia, but did they ever make a similar edition (maybe with a different name) available in the US?

Here's a picture of what I'm talking about:

I don't think that color combination was DOT approved.

The Sahara edition of the UZJ100 is a slight step above the standard 100 series available in the U.S. And a slight step below the LX470 in terms of interior treatments. Of course, you can get the Sahara with the 1HD-FTE diesel motor in Australia, which is one of the most desired motors even in Australia. You wouldn't be able to legally import and register here in the States until the rig is 25 years old, but there is nothing saying you can't bring it over, temporarily import it, and then take it out of the country every year. And then bring it back in for another year. Of course, you would have to keep up the registration there in Oz.

What about importing it into Mexico and driving across the border?

If you want to have a "Sahara", I'd think importing the rims and badges would be the easiest/cheapest way.

It's the rims, badges, chrome door handles and mirrors, tail lights, and grill that look sweet. Maybe I could just buy all of those parts somewhere!

I think that's a VX… or at least that is what the badge says on the back. ;)

I believe the headlight, tail lights and grill are 2006-2007 and similar (but not exactly the same) to what we get in the US. The OE chrome handles, mirrors and badges can easily be purchased. The rims are similar to the Mexican spec 17" wheels.

The bullbar and running boards can also be had but shipping would be $$$. The body color painted window trim would either be DIY or your local body shop.

Yeah that's not a Sahara, Sahara has colour matched door handles, black vynil around the window frames. I'm not sure where the vx sits in the model range with the gxl Sahara and kakadu.

That colour combination is awful and I own one with it!
