is 1st gear considered a "granny" gear?

Patride, if you think of getting the SOR nerf bars you can take a look at mine. I live on the NW side of chicago and you can take a look at some of the other vehicles that you can use for a daily driver!Gotta try to clear out the driveway so I can justifying buying a 40. I still got that Volvo and am selling it for 100 buck because I rather have a the money than donating it for a tax deduction. I only wish I had a warehouse to store the the spare cars till I need them. The other vehicles are a 91 mercury tracer and a 91 plymouth voyager(both 700 bucks but need a little work= alternator in one, timing belt in the other). These were all our family cars till every got newer cars. I am keeping one of the two for running errands when working on the truck. I might see you also at Gumby's on the 10 of july.

I wouldn't go as far as calling the 1st gear on the H55F a "granny low", that term tends to be reserved for the very low (and mostly unusable) 1st gear on domestic trannies like the SM420 or SM465. Yes, it's lower than the H52, but 4.95:1 is not that low. 1st gear on an H55F is actually very usable, especially when running bigger tires.

I run 35's with 4.10's and the H55F, and I use first gear to start almost every time.

agreed, i was speaking about how it is sometimes called a granny in reference to the H52 only because it is lower. I wonder where the line is drawn? over 5.00:1?

hey archie,
i really wish i could pony up on one of your other cars. i am renting a house right now and the landlord is really weird about cars. i can only have 2??? i don't really get it. i might try to talk to him and see if i can bend the rules. i only have a 3 mile drive to and from work, so i think the $100 volvo might do the trick? i hope to see you at gumby's on the 10th. i don't know if i will have time to hang out that day due to some prior plans, but i will definately stop by.
