let me tell you about the three dizzys I had to replace on my 160K 2F'd '40:
the first just grenaded- flyweights out the side of the housing, the second did the same thing but not as spectacularly, but it's shaft did break, and the third took out my cam. snapped it in half.
the root cause was an oil pump that was so worn from neglect (and maybe sand in the oil?) that the lobes had worn to points and on one particularly high rev 2-3 shift, (merging onto I-84 at Troutdale) the sucker bound up, snapping the cam, and throwing the counterweights off, clean through the housing never to be seen again.

the silence that immedietly followed, and the semi horns that replaced that silence as I coasted to a stop will haunt me

I hope your missing etc.. is not worse than just a sloppy dizzy, but forwarned is forarmed, and a little paranoia is healthy, Eh?
after the rebuild and parts swapping I finally go to run my '40 again, but after a short while I figured out that the F cam I put in the 2F was not oiled the same, so a bit MORE machine work and another cam in and out and it was time to really part the thing

, but that's another story.
is your oil pressure uncomfortably low at idle? any thoughts for opening up that pan and replacing the oil pump as PM, and fixing that oil leak I'm sure you have at the front and rear where the side gaskets meet up with the bearing shell gaskets?
