Hello Friends-
If you are reading this message you are on the short list of invitees to the famous (or infamous?) Second Annual “100s in the Hills” Weekend. If you are not familiar with the event grab a beer or mixed drink and have a read below.

This year’s event will expand on last years in terms of trail mileage and post run festivities. Last year we had 8 vehicles and we hope to see 15 brave souls this time around (plus family and well behaved pets). We are initially making this an invite only event and you have been invited. We have been watching your contribution to the community, attitude and 4x4 prowess on the forum. No whiners or trouble makers have been invited which should make for a great time. After we get responses from invitees we will open up a thread to fill any remaining spots.
WHEN?: It is recommended that you show up the night before and leave the day after i.e Thursday through Monday, but some will only make it for a day and some will be there for a week!
Sept 28-Sep 30 (Fri-Sun)
Expect to be on the trail (away from camp at least) for 8-10+ hours each day. Make sure that your vehicles are in excellent running order. Shops in Ouray, Lake City, Telluride, Silverton are Expensive, No extra fuel is necessary on the trail.
WHERE?: Camp will be on Forest Service Land near Ouray, CO. This undeveloped group camping area resides at 8,000’ So bring warm clothing and firewood for the group fire.
Friday: Super-Secret Run or Hurricane/Corkscrew Pass or Governor Basin Pot Luck Dinner. Bring a recipe to share!
Saturday: Alpine Loop in its entirety, running the classic route with no side trips. Lunch and Beer in Lake City! Beer in Silverton!
Sunday: Ophir Pass, a very mild pass but gets us into Telluride! Lunch and Beer in Telluride. Return via Imogene Pass.
Most of the obstacles on most of the trails are avoidable but there will be some ledges and rocky sections (the road up Engineer is about worst we will encounter). If you are planning on doing all the trails above I would recommend at minimum Sliders with the expectation that you may lightly damage your bumper covers. The preferred setup would be Sliders and Front/Rear Bumpers. I would also really like it if everyone had a CB or better yet 2M (Trail Leader and gunner has both) but it's not required.
HOW MUCH?: Cost will be $50 per person and includes a T-Shirt (sponsored by Slee Off-Road) and restroom facilities.
We understand it's early but want to give people as much time as possible to make plans.
Jonathan Harris
